great video & presentation im about 2 graduate from college & as a reward 2 myself i am going 2 pick up an Ar-15, but cant decide between the DI or piston on the DI do u have 2 clean that steel gas tube & if so how & how much. also what do u personally like better? i own an AK-47 & i love it, it is my go 2 gun 4 when the zombies come so my AR is going to be my target or range gun. and one more thing kinda not related but maybe u can help what kinda of lube do u use, how do u feel about mil-comm
wow finally a great explanation of what the differences between the too. Thank you so very much for posting the vid it helped summarize all the info ive been looking up on the net. Thanks again
Great vid, but as you know, I'm old school with the AR platform, so all mine are gas impingement. Well, except for the Patriot Ordinance Firearms P308 (think AR-10) that came with the piston system. Can't wait to get it out and exercise it!
@LowBuckPrepper@LowBuckPrepper Thanks Buddy! Just saw your video on the "wild west run and gun"... you're one bad ass mofo man!... you are welcome on my team any day! :-)
@SoCalPreppers well I don't think I could out shoot those two bad boys in yer vid, but I can hold my own with what I do have. Those two you got here are dream guns bro..very nice
@LowBuckPrepper well thew wway I see it, its like using a hammer or a welder. either you practice or you suck... Youhave definately got some "hammer time" :-) I just try to save a little, buy a little, repeat as needed.
Thanks for doing this video. You made it very easy to understand the two different systems. I just picked up my first AR and it uses gas impingement so I will make sure I clean it very well to keep it running smoothly.
Very good video.I'm not going to get in the middle of the debate of which is better but I do have a favorite.I think both rifles you have are very nice. Thanks
@unomas58 yea i know what you mean, this is meant to be an objective view of both operating systems, I tried as hard as i could to not be bias to one or the other... i dont want to start a pissing match if you know what I mean.
I pretty much oposed to the Short Stroke Piston AR's and conversions. The Long Stroke Piston systems are much better and far easier on the rifles, but on the whole Piston systems add additional failure points, with most of them depending on a small spring for operation. too much sustained fire that heats the piston, which heats the spring can change the temper, with potential spring breakage at the worst possible time. I could talk for hours on the topic (helped bring one model to market)
awesome explaination!
