He should have beat the guy who suggested the pastel colors for "Signs of Life" to death with a copy of this album. This whole album is loaded with classic Squier! My opinion...it's Don't say No pt.2
I caught him on tour in 1989 on by birthday, and it was an excellent song. It's too bad that the record company didn't see fit to have this as a major single because I believe that could have helped bring him back into the limelight, especially since power ballads were the big thing in the late 80s.
This song brings back MEMORIES .. good and bad --- I should have listened when my real true love played this song for me 20 years ago and begged me not to let him go!! Never should have walked away-- biggest mistake I've even made
I always said this song should have had more radio airplay when it was released. Great comeback song for Billy, he doesn't sell out to the latest fad, true to the music.
I never understood why Hear and Now didn't put Billy back on the map. Some of his most brilliant work waas never picked for singles. All of Don't Say No could have been released one song at a time for 10 years and the critics would have called Billy a godsent genius. I still do.
Hey, when the guitar is named after you, you rock. I still have the original Tale of the Tape CD release and play it regularly.
As I recall, Bobby was off recording Alice Cooper's album, Trash and that is why he didn't play drums on this song. Good to see Mark Clarke and Alan St. John in the video too after seeing and talking with them this year at the concerts.
actually the BAD boys (Bobby Alan & Doug)all recorded together on Cooper's Trash CD. That was not the reson Anton Fig played on a few tracks. Dont Say You Love Me was one them. Recent tour was incedible.Seen 3 shows myself!
This album was recorded over a long period of time. I think Billy said in an interview that it took something like a year and half to complete (Enough is Enough took nearly 2 years to complete, btw). I think I recall him saying that the time it took to record Hear n Now accounts for his use of so many different musicians, because his core band members had commitments to start recording on other projects and Billy's album still wasn't finished.
Wow, what a great video! According to a Christmas '08 letter on his website, Mr. Squier is heading out on Tour Summer'09. Haven't seen him since '01 with Bad Company/Styx... Great news!
The whole arrangement is so perfect butthat solo bridge/mandolin/into ELECTRIC guitar still does and probably always will give me chills..WHERE ARE YOU BILLY WE NEED A NEW ALBUM OR 4 !!!! ROCK ON , TC-Missouri
I have heard Billy had written & recorded some music on Michael Davis' new cd. At the same time he penned a few new ones himself>While i am not sure about an entire new album.I do know that he is warming up for his summer tour that kicks off in Minnesota in June 2009.I hear he is even doing Piper tunes from back in the 70's!
Just saw him in Atlantic City and in Westbury, NY. If you are a fan, his show is a must-see. He is playing better than ever. And yes, he is performing music from his entire career, including the Piper days.
No Worries There My John! We are of Kindred Spirits OUR Passion matches and NOthing is goona stop us NOW! I Love You So very Much And I don't Care what Noone else says or does as long as You And I are together Forever My Love
OMG It makes me remember why I was SO IN LOVE with Billy Squier when I was younger (okay, still am, but now there's the whole husband and kids thing to get in the way!! LOL)
Billy is my favorite of all time. i recently got a signed picture from him for my 20 yr. anniversary. my wife got it for me. awesome. His recent tour with ringo star, he sounds great.
You are so right!!!! Squier is so underated and unsung he deserves so much more credit than he has recieved...we love Squier here in Minnesota!!! he is coming with Ringo Starr in July can't wait!!!
Had this CD years ago, but not sure where it is now. Makes me want to head out to the stores to purchase his songs again! I think he is great and would love to see him in concert! This song is great!
Thank you so much for posting this. It's my favorite Squier song. Had an old girlfriend named Lisa, and this was our song. We parted ways and lost touch, and a year later I found out that she passed away. This song will always make me think of her and keep her memory alive. I still get choked up when I hear it. Great song with great words
I doubt it. Looks as though it was filmed in L.A. Unless the inside shots were at the Power Station and it was just the outside sequences filmed elsewhere.
Billy never shot a video to G.O.D.(which is a great rocker) Sorry but the only videos from that CD were Don't Say You Love Me & Don't let me go. (And he has never played G.O.D live either)

One of my FAV Squier gems. This should've received wide rotation. A truly profound song with VERY cerebral lyrics.
