Note for PC users - if you can't beat the timed stuff at the very end, adjust the resolution down. I don't know what the technical reason for it is, but it makes the difference.

Heck, it probably makes a difference throughout the rest of the timed portions as well.

i never read a thing by HP lovecraft, but i think this is one of the greatest, if overlooked games ever made. it's scary as hell and a very different way to look at horror games.

it's a nice game apart froma dodgy gameplay. But perhaps it's also a plus since you are a normal guy and not a super hero.

Anyway the game is based on the book 'A shadow over Insmouth' by HP Lovecraft, which soea not at all mention Chtulhu, so the title isa little misleading...

Actually, the game partly takes place in a city called Arkham. The fictional location was used by H.P. Lovecraft who wrote the source material almost a century ago. Arkham Asylum in the Batman universe is a tribute to Lovecraft's work, apparently the author was a fan.

Arkham, Miskatonic University.. .etc which are often found in other book, comics and movies were all coined by HP lovecraft first.

Besides, he died in 1937, 2 years before the first Batman comic book

well I found the game scare in a more 'unsettling' way rather than 'scared out of your socks way'

like often is found in HP Lovecraft works, the horror is not about monsters popping out and do 'peak-a-boo' but it's the hostile and insane environment against the 'hero' who tries to survive and to maintain his sanity against the horrible truths he encounters

It's a psychological horror, rathern than a gory or flashy one. I though the sound was the most scary part of the game
