This is for me the best version of O Holy Night sung by the best Gospel Voice ever. God bless her. "The Lord" must have been very eager to call her back to heaven at the early age of 60. No wonder with such an intense voice.

Today, October 26, is Mahalia's birthday. A good day to listen to this song. I also have a ritual of listening to it every Christmas (and I'm not even Christian). Happy B-day, Mahalia; you are eternally loved.

When I was 4, my Mom had this song on a record. I mistakenly thought the singer was a man singing with a high voice. (lol)

The record would get stuck at a certain point so I never heard the end of the song.

Finally last year at age 22, I found out that it was Mahalia Jackson, and I was able to get the cd from the library and hear the complete song! yay! :)
