There are industrial start ups to engineer micro-organisms to produce the enzymes that can act as super catalysts. Now they are in the stage of developing the fermentation processes where they can intervene at the right points with the right enzyme or the right microbe for every component (or)substrate of a particular biomass. The are gradually patenting the genes , the strains that carry the genes, the chemical process, design of fermenters etc.
