Ippon requires control. The French was in a headlock and on his knees when he rose and threw the Japanese.

Therefore, not an ippon.

well if you look closer he has grip on the left thigh region of the japanese and in addition they both were on their knees then rose together

with the ref not calling matte then the moves counts. plus the jap was on his back for a good moment before turning the frenchman - who would have had a hugh migrane

I have to say that I would have given the Ippon to the french guy. He preformed a ochi-gari that I would have counted as a counter-attack.

But as always, the judges had it THEIR way.

if you look carefully at the DDT you'll see the french player execute an ouchi gari in a counter move before his head gets smashed into the ground - not being funny but i think the french guy should have one this as it was an ippon!!
