  • Hey im doing KCP next summer . This video helped ALOT ! Could me give me any advice i could use while im there or even before i get there?

  • Hey figurethree, I was wondering- I heard they intentionally try to put you in classes with as little other english speakers as possible, is this true? And if so, were you still somehow able to meet other english speakers to hang out with? I'm a little worried because I want to attend for 6 or 9 months, and it would be a long time to go without anyone speaking english :S

  • @Cyrus150 It's not exactly that they TRY to keep English speakers to a minimum in the classes, but more along the lines that there aren't nearly as many English-speaking students as Koreans or Chinese. In the upper level classes it's very likely you'll be the only Western student, or among only a couple.

    Don't worry about not finding the English speakers :) The school itself is small, so everybody congregates in the lounges and such. You won't be able to avoid them even if you WANTED XD

  • @Cyrus150 Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions about KCP (or just want to chat about Japan/Japanese etc, heh). I'd be happy to chatter about it all day lol I know it would have been nice for me if I'd come across someone to shoot questions at before I went. Helps take away the apprehension :)

  • Could you please tell me if it's an all-female dorm?

    Thanks =)

  • @Ostakakan This particular dorm is a bit special. It's more like an apartment building (at least I think so) and is NOT a gender specific dorm (I'm pretty sure none of the KCP dorms are gender specific. Could be wrong though). There were lots of Japanese people living in my dorm too, and a handful of KCP students.

  • @figurethree I see, thank you. =) So it was provided by KCP (as in, you didn't find it yourself)? If it was, did you get to choose if you wanted a bathroom or not? Also, it would be more expensive to have a bathroom in your room than not, wouldn't it?

    I'm sorry for all of those questions, heh. ^-^

  • I'm thinking about going to KCP for summer 2011. How is your dorm? I heard the female dorm in Ikebukuro, the one without the meal plan, has a curfew. I'm guessing yours is the one with the meal plan?

  • @RokiLoki The one in Ikebukuro does indeed have a curfew, and the dorm manager gets upset if you break it since it's kind of rude to disrespect the rules like that :P I love my dorm room; it's got everything I need and it's a private room, so it's pretty much perfect except for the 1.5 hour commute to school (which really isn't that atypical in Tokyo). This dorm has a meal plan, but it's actually a ticket plan where you buy a meal ticket when you want to sign up for a meal.

  • @RokiLoki There is another dorm by the same owners in this area a few block away from mine, and I don't know how the meal plan is set up there. So if you ask for a meal plan I'm not sure which of these dorms you'll be placed in though.

  • Thanks for the video! I'm looking at KCP for Fall 2011.

    I miss Pepsi Nex!! It was like Diet pepsi with lemon cleaner.

  • @OdaibaNaia I've grown fond of Pepsi Nex lately :) Hit me up if you have questions about KCP. I've been at the school for about a month now, so I've got a decent feel for it. I'd be happy to try to answer any questions XD
