If you watch the clip of The Beatles at the Cavern...there were 2 to 3 rows of chairs in front of the stage...so yup..there were seats... :)

@Funkymojo I just checked out their video of 'Some Other Guy' at The Cavern. You're absolutely right! There were 2 rows of seats at the front! I stand corrected.
