Cardinal Fisher died for Christ. Period. The Principles of the Gospels were more important to him than life itself. Catholic haters? "If I am wrong, prove me wrong. If I am right, why do you strike me?". Wow, the Catholic Faith is indeed the True Faith...rejected by the world just as Christ was...
@cramtoro Because you'd either get ripped to death by the guards or executed in a much more horrific way later, e.g. hanging, drawing & quartering, or burning. There was no escape from these places, they had gates made of oak & iron, stone walls several metres thick, and guards everywhere. Fisher spares himself a lot of extra pain & indignity by just submitting, & ensures he's remembered for his courage.
I wonder how many you tubers would be ready to face the block for what they believe in. Men like Cardinal Fisher, St Thomas More and Robert Aske were brave bold men. They should be respected and honoured.
@kahlani Trust me, not many. A lot of you tubers talk big, insult and judge other you tubers, they gloat, laugh at people for being different or not as they believe they should be, they masturbate to violent videos and climax on horror film scenes.
But if they themselves had to face death and be executed for what they "believe in", most of them would turn into puddles of squirming mud, cry like newborns and beg for their lives like pussies. Man, woman, doesn't matter.
I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying: How long, O Lord (holy and true) dost thou not judge and revenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
And white robes were given to every one of them one; and it was said to them, that they should rest for a little time, till their fellow servants, and their brethren, who are to be slain, even as they, should be filled up.
to forgive a man that is executing u and the king for sentencing him to death, to fight for what u believe, Man that speech sent chills up my back. He in my view is a honest hero.
Saint John Fisher is the ONLY Bishop out of 40-50 (& Cardinal) to oppose Henry VIII for selling off of the Church (& all Church property) in England. This is especially bad for him (Henry) since since 20 years before he was heralded as "Defender of the Faith" in opposing M. Luther. Now, we don't have unity in One Church but disunity and 40,000 "churches". The present "monarch" of Britain today isn't even English. They're German. What a sad day for Britain. The temporal government which had as its principle that which had been passed on in Christ and through the Judeo tradition. We have our freedom in the law. The law is bound by the higher natural law. We do not have authority to deviate from it. When we do we lose ourselves. @kikkadmafiosa he challenged the kings right to divorce his first wife, he wouldnt take the oath the the king was the head of the church, and conspired with the holy roman empire to invade england and restore the church
Im protestant and absolutely do not believe in the Popes supremacy in the church, but if John Fisher said anything like this at his actual execution than i am convinced he was a true saint of God.
Is it true that Fisher wrote to the Emperor asking for an invasion? Because if he did, he went too far in his opposition. It was treason not only against the king, but what is worse, against his country. Especially, as the Imperial army, which he wanted to see on his land, probably consisted of the same mercenaries, who had ransacked Rome just a few years ago.
I hope, this statement was a joke. Treason remains treason, regardless of person's motives. And communication with foreign powers with the aim in mind to prompt them to invade your country is certainly a treason. I'm surprised that nobody here seems to notice this simple fact.
St. Thomas More served as Chancellor of England. One of his duties was to uphold the Law, which stated that Heresy was an offense against not just the Church, but also the State. So the Protestants that were put to death on his watch were guilty of heresy as the Law of the time so stated. So to imply that More did evil for "his religion" is completely false. @planthi80 A fair question. Heresy was considered in this time to be a crime worse than murder, for a murderer killed the body, but a heretic killed the soul. So to execute such a "criminal" was considered "meet and right so to do". And it did go both ways, Catholics killing Protestants, Protestants killing Catholics. Thankfully, we are long past this and can find the common ground in Jesus Christ. But for that time, it was the way it was.

@jkirk1626 I was raised catholic and I feel you protestants are right in many cases. Henry VIII made a good decision to break with Rome. England became a powerful wealthy state because they didn't had to send any taxes to Rome like other catholic countries. Henry VIII did it because of taxes to contral the law and to take over Church's land. It was of course taken over by the crown. Beside that he didn't wanted to be a subject to the Pope.
@UpTheSnakes I think you're right & your reply is interesting. I've encountered this before in catholics & former catholics - that you're either catholic or protestant. To me protestantism was a necessary movement in the christian church, but I'm neither - I'm a methodist, like the rest of my family. I'm devoted to the methodist church, the principles it upholds, and its simple yet wholehearted approach to christian teaching. :-)
@UpTheSnakes Henry wanted to divorce Catherine of Aragon. His entire dispute with the Church was over that fact. He went on to 'marry' a total of six women, three he divorced, one died, 2 he murdered (exectuted) and one survived him. He was no Saint. He executed St Thomas More and St John Fisher because they would not recognize Anne Boleyn as his wife, and they would not recognize him as the head of the church of England. They were loyal to both the Church and to Catherine.
@dizzy365 protestant are satanists true ones they know the truth and usurp power for their own crap and engage in apathy when they are the crooks and whine about imaginary corruption when it is their own which is the problem
@assym2006 The existence of a divine force cannot be ruled out, as you have eventually accepted, therfore it is perfectly rational to suggest it is a possibility.
The fact is you don't know either way, like me. Until science can prove God does not exist, there will always be room for doubt. I was thinking last night how incredible it is that the universe was created by an energy mass the size of a golf ball. Where did that come from in the first place? The mind boggles!
The difference between Orcs and God is that there is no rational reason to believe in Orcs existing. Given that science cannot explain where matter came from in the first place, a divine force is one reasonable explanation. Also, the idea of an infinite number of universes etc is also reasonable. It's all guesswork, and science doesn't help (yet). So you can't be 100% sure, as you seem to be suggesting.
Also, remember science gets it wrong all the time (flat earth etc).
@assym2006 Again, you seem to not focus on the key intellectual issue - so I will stop repeating myself - but for the last time, science simply has not been able to prove where matter - the building blocks of life - first came from. In the absence of an explanation, a divine being is one possibility. Even devout Scientists agree with that.
The human interpretation and manifestation of religion is, I agree, often perverse, but this is a totally separate point to the issue of creationism.
@assym2006 Er, I think that's called sidestepping the issue! Is that really all you have to say on this subject?
I have put to you a very clear philosophical point, which is in the absence of proof to the contrary, the existence of God, however unlikely, cannot be totally dismissed. I don't suggest God does exists - I don't know - only that on a logical, scientific level, it is not possible to exclude the possibility.
@assym2006 Actually the burden of proof rests with the person making the claim/statement, whether it is the pro-God or non-God party. So I half agree with you. If you were arguing for God, the onus would be on you. In this case, you are making the opposite claim, that you catergorically reject the existence of God. Therefore, the burden is on you to prove that he doesn't exist because you are making this claim.
Which brings me back to my original point and the creation of DNA etc.
@assym2006 You're ignoring the logic of my point, either because you don't understand the concept or because you have no answer. I'll try again.
Please explain where matter (i.e. cells, DNA) originally came from. Evolution explains very well how this matter developed into life. But science has thus far singularly failed to explain where matter came from.
Therefore, logically, that it was created by a divine force cannot be exlcuded.
@assym2006 I'm not religious man, but explain to me where matter comes from, i.e. cells and building blocks of life. If you can't (and no scientist has yet done so) then you cannot dismiss a diviine creator, however much you might not want to believe or think it unlikely.
All matter (atoms) are manufactured inside stars. In fact, we all all stardust. All the chemical elements are the result of nuclear fusion inside stars. An aging star explodes (nova) when its fuel is exhausted (first hydrogen, then helium) dispersing the elements throughout the universe to recombine once again into to stars/planets and other bodies...Jim, Columbus, OH
@beautifulliar5263 For not signing the oath of Succession which basically everyone had to sign to recognize that King Henry VIII's marriage to Anne Boleyn was valid and to recognize her as Queen of England and if you refuse to sign the oath it was treason which meant death. The sores were from all the torture he was put through during his imprisonment.
@tropicsgoddess The Oath had as its main purpose recognizing Henry as Head of the Church of/in England. It wasn't so much recongnizing Anne as Queen what would've been against their conscience, but Henry granting himself the one title which he was obviously not his.
@assym2006 And I feel sorry for you. The way you look at it, you can never understand both sides. At least I do try. And I'm sorry, you didn't receive a "science" education. A man of science would have a greater sence of democracy and respect for other people (and history!) than you do. Well, you said I believed in unicorns - take it as if I was paying back the same response in "kindess". I hurt your feelings? Then I apologize.
@assym2006 And you're the one that is delusioned to confuse God with unicorns and leprechauns. But as I told you countless times before - do as you wish - all I demand of you is respect of my own beliefs, and I'll respect you the same way (but you seem to not respect me). That is the true value of democracy. If you can't respect it - beat it. Go to some Arabian country. There they are... well, shall we say that they don't hold too much in consideration the word/ conception of what democracy is?
@assym2006 Right... but you're the one saying God doesn't exist... so you're the one that must prove it. Not me. I already had some things happenning in my life that I can tell you - it was no coincedence. For me, God does exist. Even Einstein said there had to be a God controlling the universe. If you don't agree - as I said before, you are free to do so. Now, proclaim it as an absolute truth, you cannot. You're either missing some part of your childhood education or I simply don't know.
@assym2006 And by me knowledge in history, Thomas More was a great humanist. He wanted an almost perfect world in his time... which would be impossible as all of Europe was on war with each other. Now, if you want to call "a fool" to a man that did so much for England - it's your choice. Even if historically (IS totally) incorrect.
@assym2006 Then... prove me there is no God. Please do. It's no absolute truth, sir. There's two options in this path: you choose the one that suits you better: you believe in God, or you don't - as simple as that. Now, who's on extremes? Is it me, or you? I tell you, I do believe in God (I don't believe in unicorns for your own information). Have I tried to convert you? I just tried to bring you to reason.
@assym2006 At least he died for what he believed in. You would probably be a sell-out of your own beliefs. This was an honourable man. If God exists or not, it's not an absolute truth. Either way, respect people that believe in God. You want them to respect you as well, don't you? Idiotic little person.
It doesn't matter how much I watch this scene, I cry everytime. The acting is amazing, and so powerful. John Fisher and Thomas More are in a much better place, with God and at peace.
Wow, how is it that in every video on YouTube, there is always a discussion that is not in any way related to the video at hand? Guys, stop trying to out-smart each other and comment on John Fisher.
@willydee umm yes it was actually. People looked to bishop fisher and more as martys for their faith. They were not behind the king because they hated anne and loved katherine and did not support the divorce as a result.
Actually, in general they were pretty neutral on the king. They hated the catholic church because of the way they hoarded money. That is why the reformation took place. Don't get me wrong, the catholic church had its supporters, but Fisher didn't get close to as much love in real life as he does in this video.
@willydee then why did the people rebel against the King a few years later? Why did Henry's Church of England have to retain so many catholic trappings. The English people loved thier Church.
@coolerking04 Some did rebel, yes. But it was put down pretty easily. The church had a good chunk of supporters, don't get me wrong. But the majority were pretty neutral on the matter. The resistance was mainly in certain areas of northern England. London and the more populated areas of southern England generally backed the king.
@coolerking04 Of course the English loved their Church, but the Tudors suppresed and suppressed...do you honestly believe the 'majority' of the population would accept heresy over-night on the whims of a king? They worshiped the ground he walked on, but they weren't stupid. When people are seizing your house and (later, during Edward's and then Elizabeth's reign) making it a SIN to go to MASS...

They were loyal to both the Church and to Catherine.

THthefirst 1 year ago
@assym2006
THthefirst 1 year ago
@THthefirst Orcs are real thank you much. As are trolls and other mystical beings.
TraciPeteyforlife 1 year ago
@TraciPeteyforlife Surely if they are mythical (which is what I think you mean when you say "mystical"), then by definition they are not real.
THthefirst 1 year ago
@assym2006 Again, you seem to not focus on the key intellectual issue - so I will stop repeating myself - but for the last time, science simply has not been able to prove where matter - the building blocks of life - first came from. In the absence of an explanation, a divine being is one possibility. Even devout Scientists agree with that.
The human interpretation and manifestation of religion is, I agree, often perverse, but this is a totally separate point to the issue of creationism.
THthefirst 1 year ago
@assym2006 Er, I think that's called sidestepping the issue! Is that really all you have to say on this subject?
I have put to you a very clear philosophical point, which is in the absence of proof to the contrary, the existence of God, however unlikely, cannot be totally dismissed. I don't suggest God does exists - I don't know - only that on a logical, scientific level, it is not possible to exclude the possibility.
I think your repsonse shows you agree with me.
THthefirst 1 year ago
@assym2006 PS As a famous detective once repeated, "when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth".
So far, you haven't eliminated the existence of God as being impossible.
1000 years ago, it wasn't possible to prove that Austrialia existed and scientists believed the world to be flat. Of course, they were wrong.
THthefirst 1 year ago
@assym2006 Actually the burden of proof rests with the person making the claim/statement, whether it is the pro-God or non-God party. So I half agree with you. If you were arguing for God, the onus would be on you. In this case, you are making the opposite claim, that you catergorically reject the existence of God. Therefore, the burden is on you to prove that he doesn't exist because you are making this claim.
Which brings me back to my original point and the creation of DNA etc.
THthefirst 1 year ago
@assym2006 You're ignoring the logic of my point, either because you don't understand the concept or because you have no answer. I'll try again.
Please explain where matter (i.e. cells, DNA) originally came from. Evolution explains very well how this matter developed into life. But science has thus far singularly failed to explain where matter came from.
Therefore, logically, that it was created by a divine force cannot be exlcuded.
THthefirst 1 year ago
@assym2006 I'm not religious man, but explain to me where matter comes from, i.e. cells and building blocks of life. If you can't (and no scientist has yet done so) then you cannot dismiss a diviine creator, however much you might not want to believe or think it unlikely.

All matter (atoms) are manufactured inside stars. In fact, we all all stardust. All the chemical elements are the result of nuclear fusion inside stars. An aging star explodes (nova) when its fuel is exhausted (first hydrogen, then helium) dispersing the elements throughout the universe to recombine once again into to stars/planets and other bodies...Jim, Columbus, OH

what is with the sores and things on his face? did he have an illness? and why was he beheaded?
beautifulliar5263 1 year ago
@beautifulliar5263 For not signing the oath of Succession which basically everyone had to sign to recognize that King Henry VIII's marriage to Anne Boleyn was valid and to recognize her as Queen of England and if you refuse to sign the oath it was treason which meant death. The sores were from all the torture he was put through during his imprisonment.
tropicsgoddess 1 year ago
@tropicsgoddess The Oath had as its main purpose recognizing Henry as Head of the Church of/in England. It wasn't so much recongnizing Anne as Queen what would've been against their conscience, but Henry granting himself the one title which he was obviously not his.

Nerpha 1 year ago
@assym2006 And I feel sorry for you. The way you look at it, you can never understand both sides. At least I do try. And I'm sorry, you didn't receive a "science" education. A man of science would have a greater sence of democracy and respect for other people (and history!) than you do. Well, you said I believed in unicorns - take it as if I was paying back the same response in "kindess". I hurt your feelings? Then I apologize.
AvatarMarxon90 1 year ago
@assym2006 And you're the one that is delusioned to confuse God with unicorns and leprechauns. But as I told you countless times before - do as you wish - all I demand of you is respect of my own beliefs, and I'll respect you the same way (but you seem to not respect me). That is the true value of democracy. If you can't respect it - beat it. Go to some Arabian country. There they are... well, shall we say that they don't hold too much in consideration the word/ conception of what democracy is?
AvatarMarxon90 1 year ago
@assym2006 Right... but you're the one saying God doesn't exist... so you're the one that must prove it. Not me. I already had some things happenning in my life that I can tell you - it was no coincedence. For me, God does exist. Even Einstein said there had to be a God controlling the universe. If you don't agree - as I said before, you are free to do so. Now, proclaim it as an absolute truth, you cannot. You're either missing some part of your childhood education or I simply don't know.
AvatarMarxon90 1 year ago
@assym2006 And by me knowledge in history, Thomas More was a great humanist. He wanted an almost perfect world in his time... which would be impossible as all of Europe was on war with each other. Now, if you want to call "a fool" to a man that did so much for England - it's your choice. Even if historically (IS totally) incorrect.
AvatarMarxon90 1 year ago
@assym2006 Then... prove me there is no God. Please do. It's no absolute truth, sir. There's two options in this path: you choose the one that suits you better: you believe in God, or you don't - as simple as that. Now, who's on extremes? Is it me, or you? I tell you, I do believe in God (I don't believe in unicorns for your own information). Have I tried to convert you? I just tried to bring you to reason.
AvatarMarxon90 1 year ago
@assym2006 At least he died for what he believed in. You would probably be a sell-out of your own beliefs. This was an honourable man. If God exists or not, it's not an absolute truth. Either way, respect people that believe in God. You want them to respect you as well, don't you? Idiotic little person.

@BabeeyAmyy properly made Henry 8 angry, he always had some lame excuse to execute people, so in all likelyhood, he was yet another innocent man.

willydee 2 years ago
@willydee how? he is upset and scared of death would you not be?
lucyluuuxxxx 2 years ago
Because the catholic church wasn't popular in England at this time. The people were behind the king.
willydee 2 years ago
@willydee umm yes it was actually. People looked to bishop fisher and more as martys for their faith. They were not behind the king because they hated anne and loved katherine and did not support the divorce as a result.
lucyluuuxxxx 2 years ago
Actually, in general they were pretty neutral on the king. They hated the catholic church because of the way they hoarded money. That is why the reformation took place. Don't get me wrong, the catholic church had its supporters, but Fisher didn't get close to as much love in real life as he does in this video.
willydee 2 years ago
@willydee then why did the people rebel against the King a few years later? Why did Henry's Church of England have to retain so many catholic trappings. The English people loved thier Church.
coolerking04 1 year ago
@coolerking04 Some did rebel, yes. But it was put down pretty easily. The church had a good chunk of supporters, don't get me wrong. But the majority were pretty neutral on the matter. The resistance was mainly in certain areas of northern England. London and the more populated areas of southern England generally backed the king.
willydee 1 year ago
@coolerking04 Of course the English loved their Church, but the Tudors suppresed and suppressed...do you honestly believe the 'majority' of the population would accept heresy over-night on the whims of a king? They worshiped the ground he walked on, but they weren't stupid. When people are seizing your house and (later, during Edward's and then Elizabeth's reign) making it a SIN to go to MASS...
