  • Back them it wasnt to young, at that age they were MEN and WOMEN same as it SHOULD be today !

  • I love how Pa handles this.

  • lol at charles 'oh by the way...you're engaged!'

  • People back then and young girls especially didn't think it was too early to get married.Their parents did the same and traditions were different.

  • Back then many girls married at 15 or even at 14.It was the way of living.Girls the age of Mary used to marry then and at 21 as it has been said you were an old maid. There is nothing shocking in this episode. It was in the late eighteen century and mentalities were quite different, upbringing was different, everything was different actually. The ingalls family lived in the 19 th century, not today.

  • Wahoo Mary's 13 years old , and she want married ? And She was 15 years old whrn she married with Adam !

  • Isn't thirteen TOO young to be engaged? even for late nineteenth century?

  • @newbeginnings523 i would think so

  • @newbeginnings523 it was younger than was ttpical even then unless the family coudn't provide for the girl

  • @newbeginnings523 Geezus. People die from trying to give birth to babies when they're that young! yikes! even at 15, I wouldn't wanna try it. Hell I'm nearing thirty and I haven't even had a baby yet. LOL

  • i think john should ask the college guy if he can go to school for one year

  • is mary blind in this one?

  • well yes and no cuz mary isnt blind yet but she will be blind after the scarlet fever

  • @JuLsProduction I think she was slowly going blind for like 2-3 years but just didn't realize till it got real bad.

  • Wow, she's young. Of course, girls were married at age 13-19. If you weren't married by 21, you were considered an old maid!

    Here's another thing I don't get:

~Charles is letting Mary get married at 15.

~He makes Laura and Almanzo wait until Laura's 17.

~Then he tells Grace she has to be 18.

He needs to pick and age and stick to it. I think 17 is a good age for back then.

  • @archergrl1996 In real life none of the Ingalls girls were married young for that time. Laura was over 18 when she married.Carrie and Grace were older and Mary never married.

  • @tigertbalm -- You're right. 18 may seem very young now, but back then, it was a little older than usual to be getting married.

  • @archergrl1996 I suspect that he considered each girl's personality, goals, and maturity level when he made those decisions.

  • Wheres the episode where Mary goes blind?

  • it's on Youtube, it's called "I'll be wabing as you drive away".

  • lol

  • She's 13!

  • yeah, but Charles won't allow Mary to get married before she turns fifteen.

  • hahahahahaha thump up

  • it was accepted back then but John was close to Mary's age. a 30 year old guy with her would be unacceptable anytime, unless he's somebody important. Rich or well known people get away with more stuff.

  • do you know the name of the episode where mary and john fall in love? it'd be much appreciated :)

  • its called going home from season 2 =)

  • thank you! :)

  • Thats ok!=)

  • what did u say going home epis?..is it on whos channel?cant recall i seen it but i will thnx

  • yup...going home...lindsay980 is going 2 upload it...at least its on her list for uploading on her channel but im not sure when it will be uploaded =)

  • good show thanks elvisobsessor-p.s-do you know what the name of the episode where mary becomes blind-PLEASE reply

  • sure, rmk38...it's called "I'll Be Waving As You Drive Away."

  • thanks

  • love the video. I can't believe that Charles let Marry get married at 15 and wanted Lura to wait until she was 18 to marry manly.

  • I think it was all about maturity?
