Three years is not a long time though, remember! My parents have an age difference of ten years (40 and 50) so I see no reason why Shikamaru and Temari together EXCEPT the village thing. But also remember that the Leaf and Sand are close allies, due to Gaara and Naruto. It'll be a time before they stop.
