I do believe Vera is actually laughing with her lines with Lizzie over her being drunk on non alcoholic wine- when her face cracks you can see what Fiona Spence's character was really like and what an actress she is in playing Vera so well- app she had a strong friendship with Sheila Florence who played Lizzie and I think there is a hint of this in this scene..
In the interviews avail on youtube u get a good look at the actresses rl. The one's I was most impressed by were Fiona Spence (who's lovely) & Frankie. Frankie's speech & body language were acted based on 10yo gang boys. Genius! Val Lehman is the let down. She barely had to act as Bea. She's rude, domineering & arrogant irl. Talks over the others. Maggie Kirkpatrick is kind, friendly & glam! (The anti-Freak) My Steve met Lizzy irl & said she was the lovliest, grand old lady with time 4 every1.
