  • @perther3 Aye, I prefer the lyrics, it's a bit more depressing too

  • I prefer the Louder than bombs version!

  • My life has been changed by Morrissey. I will always stand by him, During the hardest times of my life, I could always turn to his music. And when I felt as if no-body cared about the things I cared so passionatly about, he would be the one to speak up and make my point. This man is a living saint, There is only one Morrissey. And Im still waiting for the rest of world to realise just how crucial he is. Thank you Morrissey, without you I would not be who I am.

  • is there a video of the Louder Than Bombs version available on Youtube?

  • Oh thank you for uploading this song... incredible!!!!!!!

  • what i DO know - is were here and it's now! amazing........he is just the best. you cannot feel bad after a nice morrissey/smiths listening session. always makes life right again.

  • Will the world end in the night time? (I really don't know) Or will the world end in the day time? (I really don't know) And is there any point ever having children? Oh, I don't know All I do know is we're here and it's now

  • A++ song.

  • Anthem for Purity Ball 2011 :P

  • favorite smiths song, fits me too perfectly.

  • Great collection of pictures, some of which I haven't seen before. Yay!

  • I've never had a favourite Smiths song, only a revolving 100 or so. This, though, has always been thereabouts.

  • @Erich745 fuck off little bitch.

  • @kizugrey How ignorant of you to say that I am small without proper evidence.

  • @Erich745 She's just sad, bitter and twisted like Ena Sharples was, As another so eloquently commented,

go forth and procreate. Just preferably not anywhere in England.

  • 0.27 best pic on youtube

  • Will the world end in the night time?.. I really don't know

  • BEAUTIFUL! NICELY DONE!

  • "Will the world end in the nighttime? i really don't know

Will the world end in the daytime? i really don't know

And is there any point to ever having children i really don't know

All i do know is were here and it's now"

The lyrics are like a poem

  • so superior to the louder than bombs version

  • please tom, don't do it

i should want to kill myself

    This way and that way

    God, how sex implores you

    To let yourself lose yourself

    :')

  • used to fell asleep wth this gem... in the warm spring's afternoons...

  • This is the version from "The World Won't Listen". I prefer it to the other, but perhaps only because I loved this version first.

  • For anybody wondering. i think this version is only available on the newer released album The sound of The Smiths, its kinda a best of album. i do prefer the other one it has more soul to it.

  • Correction.

This version was first released on the world won't listen album (compilation)

The original was a B-side to the single Shakespeare's Sister.

Both Marr and Moz include the original as one of their favorite Smiths material.

  • @PlaceOfOrigin yeh i realised my mistake when i went back and checked all my albums but i thought it wasnt worth it to go back and correct myself when the point got through. nice call

  • my favorite smiths song by far

  • I havent listened to the smiths for ages, ive started again and im never gonna stop. the songs grip me.

Im just grateful for the music.

    love this tune.

  • Same here...some times I wonder where all those years went...Good times, good memories. Thank you so much to the Smiths...

  • I prefer the other version.

  • I didn't know there was another version. What album is it on?

  • what versions this????

    been a Smiths fan since 15, i'm 41 now

  • this song is undoubtedly my favorite Smith's song of all time. it reminds me so much of Rebel Without a Cause. especially with the whole "Will the world end in the night time ?

    (I really don't know)

Or will the world end in the day time ?

    (I really don't know)" thing.

  • well i guess i have to buy a monocle now

  • whoops!...6/8 time (haven't played in a while).

    Still great.

  • I've been a Smiths/Morrissey fan for 25 yrs and I've never heard this version before. Wow. Thanks SOOOO much for posting this!

  • This is the better version, imo.

And I just love the drum tap at 0:54 that leads into the hook/chorus.

  • ...and a great danceable 3/4 waltz too. Wonderful lyrics and music.

  • 6/8 innit

  • This is the best of them... In the best of days... In the best of times...

    In the best of times...

  • <3 awesome song

  • Oh, I love this song!!!!!!

  • 1:35

  • what version is this.?

  • this is the version from "the world wont listen" album.

  • It's not from louder than bombs?

  • no. there are 2 versions. this version and the louder than bombs version. the louder than bombs version is the one that people are more familar with.

  • Ah! Thank you...

  • love the picture show thumbs up

  • conducting the way!

Other victims of the Smiths include oh dear- Haircut100, Nick Kershaw,

  • Kissmyshades i love the MacDonalds / Morrissey arches, so funny. LOL

  • Whats at the back of your mind?......Two icy cold hands conducting away.....Classic!

  • The Smiths killed the Thomson Twins and Howard Jones in an instant, thank the Lord. Only The Cure could hope to live with them

  • Faboulous song, i think Morrissey talk about first time of making love and his fears about it.

    It's a poetry.

  • Its on Louder than Bombs, the Smiths second best album after Strangeways.

I love this song, I wore the tape out in my sony walkman listening to this album when I did camp america in the late 80's

  • contentious stuff, steve.

  • wow never heard this version. i guess im not a very dedicated smiths fan

  • and is there any point ever having children?

  • never. lol.

  • agreed lol

  • @kissmyshades You are lucky because your parents didnt think the same

  • @Enchufacion who says he was referring to having meaning conception, having denotes possession.

  • best lyric ever ... and there definitely is not

  • @FoKisx They smell funny and are sticky, no.

  • @FoKisx Absolutely not! I want a life! Not kids!

  • @FoKisx I have 3 wtf was I thinking? LOL ;-)

  • the world wont listen

  • Can some tell me where I can find this version?

  • i prefer the lyrics in this one but i like the other version more. either way its amazing!

  • Louder than bombs version is far superior, this one seems like he;s trying to cramp too many words into a verse.

  • let your puny body lie down, lie down as we lie you say... i remember my highschool days!.. like this song!

  • will the world end in the night time i really dont know?

  • 0:45 ...

  • you like? haha

  • One of my fave Smiths songs. Exquisite.

  • I remember a comment once along the lines of "Anyone who ever attended high school should like The Smiths." How true that is.

  • beautiful song, does anybody else see this as an ode to celibacy?

  • Sometimes I see it that way. But the line "we're here and it's now" may suggest otherwise.

  • One of best songs ever.

  • It's not of the smiths mostly... jsut the leadsinger, but what the hell... the song is beautiful:)

  • this song is exquisite <3

  • morrissey is celibate. He doesnt fuck anyone.

Hes ambiguous haha. Saying he gay is just juvenile.

  • ha I forgot I said that! I think I was drunk haha!!!! I know

  • what a tune, one their finest IMO. What i wouldnt give to see these guys reform, the world (should) listen...to the greatest band of that era or any era.

  • I have a different version where he talks about a high rise estate. What's going on here?

  • yeah, that's the louder than bombs version. this is a slightly different version released on the World Wont Listen album.

  • Had no idea. Thank you.

Any idea why they changed the beginning?

  • and i dont know what a buffon is, im not a britt, so keep the stupid words to yourself, if morrissey saved your life like he has mine then were brothers, anything else is nonsence, ilove uall im just an american ass, soorry,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • im not an anal brit so i could care less about the spelling , im more worried if u get the message, ill be at oscar wildes grave on oct 1 u britt retardes giving real hommage,! ithe only thing ever to happen good to u britts is morrissey so discard your lives, i have!

  • you might not care, but if morrissey saw you calling him that, or even worse heard it, he'd kick you in the eye.

  • Dude, stfu. It's people like you that give bad cred to Americans. Just listen to the song and quit your whining.

    LONG LIVE MORRISSEY

  • settlers...

  • ive piped down lol but changing someones name and calling it moz is retarded and offensive, hes stephen patric morrissey, its just another way of repackage , re issuse the artist, andif u were a true morrissey fan youd understand it, obviously u dont, or maybey, perhaps im being judgemental, but what ever the case , were here and its now!

  • maybe you don't have a clue... he is steVEn patricK morrissey, fucking buffoon...

  • just perfect. the queen is dead, long live the queen

  • I like how in Louder than Bombs the last 6 songs get sadder and sadder then you get to asleep and the you just die. Whats the point of having children?

  • Pipe down bradley, people who listen to this music obviously have a gd ear, it doesn't matter how u call the lead singer...jst appreciate the music

  • a real smiths fan never sayssssssssssss moz, u tards, youll never understand,,,hes the greastest writer of our time and u make him mtv with teh moz ish, hes stephen patcric morissey,, no debate

  • patcric?! ? haha....

and *a real smiths fan* never says "stePHen"!

  • or spells his surname "morissey"...

seriously, who the fuck comments on a video trying to say people are idiots for calling morrissey moz and then balls' up all 3 of his names!?

  • merely a typo surely. after all his name is stephen patric morisey.

  • YOU ARE TALKING OUT OF YOUR ARSE.

  • NO DEBATE.

  • is there still room to discuss that "greatest writer of our time" statement? well...

  • Moz Mozza Mozfather Pope of Mope. lick it up, baby, lick it up.

  • VIVA MOZ!!! this song is great! i love listening to Louder Than Bombs!! Morrissey is by far one of my favorite vocalists!!

  • Morrissey is playing this on his current tour! It's brilliant! A hidden Smiths gem... He just changed his answer of "Is there any point ever having children?" to "OH NO!" .... True legend!

  • This is the better version by far.

  • Marr and Morrissey Oh Yes (Beautiful)

  • I like that you kept all the photos close to the time period of the song - some throw in some solo morrissey when doing stuff like this.

  • the still from suedehead an N S A M notwistanding.

  • Kissmyshades, I'm not convinced that you're arrogant. You might just be a dickhead. Or an idiot. You might be all three. The jury is still out.

  • This version is superb!

    XD

  • really the best song of this band.....perfect

  • the start of this songs lyrics are different

  • yeah...

this version is an alternate take featured on the world wont listen album. the one you've probably heard is the louder than bombs version. and if you already knew that there were two existing versions, i don't know why you'd have to inform a bunch of smiths fans that the song lyrics are different. or why you'd even have to mention he obvious at all.

  • oh i see one of those smiths fans that's really arrogant, think morrissey is god and can do no wrong and give the rest of us a bad name

  • it's not that i'm arrogant. it's that your response was profoundly pointless. and it's really annoying when ppl post comments that seem insightful only to be far from a newfound discovery. what's the point of informing everyone of something they've already realized themselves, just by viewing the video itself? and if anyone's giving smiths fans a bad name, it's YOU insulting the intelligence of any smiths fan who comes across this video.

  • Your reply to Oscar was extremely rude....

  • you have a weird misconception of what rude is. and why would you want to get involved with something that doesn't concern you...especially something that's already over with. or rather, I'M officially done with it.

  • i think my response only seems rude b/c i knew what i was talking about and he didn't, and i was using a more articulate way to get my point across and all he could do was insult me FIRST by calling me arrogant. So why don't you figure out who the rude one really is. Actually, i would prefer that you didn't since your opinion means nothing in this situation that never concerned you from the beginning.

  • what the hell is your problem?

  • pointless comments... like the one you just posted.

and now since another person wants to get involved, it's just going to become another "problem" of mine.

  • The most unique band of all time....

  • This song is a beautiful representation of Morrisey's voice and melodic guitar playing by Marr. Awesome song.

  • The best song ever - by the best ever band!

  • The lyrics to this song seem so vital, you know?

  • ooOoooOooO.:: great sonG:!.

  • Thank you for putting this up. I saw Mozza sing this in Paris yesterday. Perfect. Simply Perfect.

  • "will the world in nightime

    i really dont know

or will the world end in the daytime

    i really don't know

and is there any point in ever having children?"

the best lines of this great song

  • This was so beautiful. Thank you.

  • Good job dude.

  • most beatuiful song ever so underated it turns me on with anger and morrisy!!wtf

  • I love how the last picture is of morrissey on some girl knickers, I'm SURE that completes this touching video

  • incredible pics

  • You should write greeting cards...so touching. haha

  • yeah but you get Morrissey moaning 3x in a row at the end of this version. and it fits better with what i wanted to do with the pics and his vocals. but other than that, i do prefer the lounder than bombs version.

  • "Amid concrete and clay and general decay, nature must still find a way." I love that line. I agree with most others though, I like the Louder Than Bombs version better.

  • I actually prefer the "World won't listen" version. I always thought the WWL version is far superior to the LTB version, though it's hard to say why exactly. But it feels quite different (and the lyrics differ too).

  • I have the Louder than bombs version

  • nice pictures, some i hadn't seen before. and although he looks kinda cool, doesn't johnny look ill with that cig in his mouth? DON'T SMOKE KIDS!

  • there best. lovley song

  • world wont listen version is superior. more organised. great photos there. i hadnt seen some of them ones before

  • great pics! especially the ones of young morrissey. he was so cute.

  • yeah. i like that version better too. sucks. when i was searching for an mp3 of the song, the louder than bombs version wasn't available to download.

  • ltb?
