V, a valid point, but current whaling quotas are not a threat to the minke. With (roughly) 700,000 minke, that yield 35,000 pups a year and mortality to natural causes of about 14,000 a year (50 year projected life expectancy), they'll have to kill a LOT more than 500-1000 whales a year to be a net loss.
