There are actually really good hockey players from Italy. Marco Insam played for the Notre Dame Hounds, followed by two great seasons with the Niagara IceDogs of the OHL. Michele Strazzabosco is a very talented defenceman who should be playing pro hockey in North America. and they have a great young goaltender named Andreas Bernard who plays for SaiPa in Finland. don't discredit them -- their program is really good there. Miran Schrott would have been a superstar -- RIP <3
@ariottothebest: People have died or suffered serious injuries in other sports as well, so this doesn't make hockey stupid or dangerous - if so, then I could just as well call soccer a stupid and dangerous sport. Accidental hits or hits caused by acts of poor sportsmanship occurs not exclusively in hockey, but in all sports.
That's a good point (that all sports are dangerous) but I think that it's different if you hurt yourself when you are playing or when you start a fight with someone... so, accidents are inevitable in sports, but I think that you haven't to hurt yourself in a so stupid way... injuries must happen only for accidents, and not for a stupid fight in my opinion...
@ariottothebest: Collisions, hits and slashings are a part of the sport (it is a contact/collision sport, after all), and they wear protective equipment to limit the impact of this, but fighting is not tolerated. Yes, it happens from time to time, but most of the time the referees will stop the fight and give the players a penalty (depending on the situation) - same with attacks on other players that result in injuries.
And dont worry about the poor English - understood you completely. ;)
@rareflorence Umm...The Espositos were Italian, Mommeso, Todd Burtuzzi, Mike Cammelerie, Campoli, Carcilo, Jason Chimera, Colaiacovo...they all play/ed hockey in the NHL and there are many more...
boni says he didn't hit him that hard but it clearly looks like a nice whack certainly doesn't seem hard enough to kill someone but what an unfortunate incident
Just like when you are doing firs help with heart massage. The pushes on the chest can start the heart but also strong hit in that area can kill you ask the nijas.
@Shirokinukatsukami I'm pretty sure he meant Ninjas. Early 15th century Ninjas often killed by hard hits to the chest, resulting in a cardiac arrest and subsequently death.
Early 15th Century? Really? And who were these "ninjas" employed by? Why did mid or late 15th century "ninjas" not often kill the same way? What about "ninjas" from ealier centuries (or later)?
so thats where italian ice comes from haahah

I'd like an accurate definition please, not one based on popular culture.
