I never wanted a big dog - or any dog, for that matter. But a year and a half ago, a family had to give up their great dane when they moved to the west coast and I was persuaded to take her in. She has truly become my pal. We spend lots of time walking and exploring the beach. Great Danes are fantastic dogs. Gentle, affectionate and great with everyone. I now understand the connection people have with their danes. Thanks for posting your loving memorial to Cole. It was truly heartwarming.
Wow. The first dog i remember getting was a Great Dane. His name was Zeus. I was 6 when my parents brought him home. He was the biggest goofball but we loved him like he was family. He lived to be 14 years old. The day we had to put him down( due to cancer) was the worst day of my life. Hes been gone almost two years now and i still tear up when i see a Dane. Danes really are the best dogs to have if you have the space. Im sorry for your loss. I feel your pain.
Wow, this is so weird.. Im going to get my first dane (wich alos is my first dog) and i do have a black cat that looks like yours! but yeah, your dog was amazing :-)! i hope me and my dog are getting that realtionship that you and Cole had... :-)
yesterday I lost my cat, after 17 years and 7 months, I'm searching for songs to dedicate him, it's so touching waching your video, even more because now i'm on a trip far away from my house and I couldn't say goodbye to him... =(
You had a very wonderful looking dog. I lost my dog "Chance" on July 2nd of this year. He was 15 years old. It happened so fast, one moment he was with us then the next he was gone. But he died where he called home when we first got him, at the family cottage by the lake. He made us laugh and amazed us with his human-like personality. Our family will never be the same, but at the same time we are happy to have had him for as long as we did.
What a beautiful tribute to Cole! My eyes leaked while I was watching it. I will favorite this video on my channel. Thanks for the reminder to cherish every moment we have with our great danes, they are special dogs!
I went through the exact same thing with my dane Guido. I trained several service dogs afterwards, and now that I'm done training for other people it's time to get another dane for myself. I know how you feel.
I sobbed and sobbed. What a heartfelt and sweet memoriam for Cole. I lost my dog to cancer in March and I am going to see a sheltered dog today, but after seeing your video, I'm not sure I'm ready. The authentic souls of dogs touch us in a way people rarely do. Thank you for sharing your video.
Your video reminded me of Duke, we adopted him and had almost 5 wonderful years with him. No matter how painful the loss is, I would do it again to spend just a few minutes with him by my side. He was my youngest daughter's best friend from the day he came home with us, when she was one, to the day he died when she was almost 6. I always knew he adored her, I have dozens of pictures of them in their favorite pasttime, him sleeping and her using him for a pillow. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Hey man, i just watched your video. It is 223a and I can't sleep it is just about a month a lost my pitbull/sharpei after 13 years. I rescued Phoenix from a terrible life at 6 months. Beautiful video. I miss her more and more. My 2 daughters 2 and 4 ask about her everyday. it is rough. great video, thank you for sharing. This is my girls video. You have to pause the video at 14 seconds and then again at 9 minutes 38 seconds to read them.
I found a link to your video on a site based in Aruba. They have a beautiful Great Dane due to have puppies the end of this month. Your photos and video deeply touched me and pulled at my heart strings. Yes, I cried... tears of joy and sadness. But I also have compassion for you and what you did for the best friend you will probably ever have in this life. Cole was so blessed to have you, as you were him. Thank you for sharing your lives with us is a most special way. Peace be with you. X♥X

Cole was well loved! I know your pain! I had a mastiff/rottie mix who I lost at 7 1/2 years old. I tried surgery to save him, but after a month he relapsed and I had to let him go... On the 21st of this month it will have been 7 years since I lost him and I still miss him! I now have three dogs and I foster dogs for a local rescue. I know that my big guy would have wanted me to help other dogs find wonderful homes like he had.
This was a gorgeous video. It definitely made me cry! it made me think of my baby Dane. My Dane is almost a year and it makes me sad to know that their lives are so short. However, they make every minute count. They are the best dogs! I'm so sorry for your loss. You did a great job with Cole! He was gorgeous and he looked very well loved :)
@jivarvo22 thanks so much.... One of my goals with publishing this video is to REMIND people to take lots of photos... but more importantly VIDEOS! even small video clips on your cell phone here and there! Trust me, after making this video while crying nonstop over the footage, I can appreciate VIDEO footage much more than "still pics".... just because you'll always have their bark, movements, etc, on video :) Thanks again. Love to you and your young dane! Enjoy EVERY minute :)
So sweet and so sad. But congrats to 8 beloved years with your pal. My baby girl (blue dane) just turned 10 months, so it's scary to know that someday I'll have to deal with the inevitable. But the time spent together is worth having her. Sorry for your loss.
This is such a beautiful video! Here I am, crying like a baby. I have lost beloved pets in my 31 years, but what you did here was amazing! I do not know you, just a friend of a friend, but I want to thank you for sharing these moments with the world. I am not crying for sadness but for the peacefulness, love and beauty of it all. You are a good man. :-)
Thank you for sharing this. He was such a cute puppy and such a great dog. I'm so glad you took the time to do this - it's soooo good for you and for Cole. XOXOXO
Phil, this is such a beautiful tribute. I will always be grateful for the impact that big beautiful fawn had on my life. I am so glad I met you and Cole that day in 2004, if it hadnt been for both of you entering my life, i probably wouldn't have pursued getting Tucker, which we both know was the best decision in my life. Cole is an amazing boy and he will be so deeply missed. I am sure he and Tucker are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. my love to you, mark, piper and cole.

This is the saddest video I've seen yet, thanks for sharing the life of Cole with us. I can't imagine losing my best friend.
I need a tissue to wipe away the tears now.
