They operate under the guise of scientific research, but it is all about money...

Three Japanese whalers that were injured in February 2010 were shooting an unknown liquid at SSCS members in a small boat. The wind caught the liquid and blew it back into the faces of the whalers. This was all caught on video by the Animal Planet camera crew. I will post a video response if I can find the clip.

The SSCA also are careful to point out that only about 5% of Japanese people eat whale meat. This is not a war against Japan, or the Japanese people, it is a war against the whalers (the ICR, which is a front for the Kyodo Senpaku Co. Ltd.).

They operate under the guise of scientific research, but it is all about money...

@thomas3fd6 Thomas, Sea Shepherd has never injured any Japanese fishermen. They haven't injured any Japanese whalers either. Three Japanese whalers that were injured in February 2010 were shooting an unknown liquid at SSCS members in a small boat. The wind caught the liquid and blew it back into the faces of the whalers. This was all caught on video by the Animal Planet camera crew. I will post a video response if I can find the clip.

@thomas3fd6 The two whalers that got acid in their faces caused their own injuries, as I have previously described. It's not smart to shoot liquid acid into the oncoming wind when you are not wearing a face shield.
The Sea Shepherds will continue to obstruct the illegal activities of the Japanese whalers until the whalers become bankrupt. The whalers are already US$100 million in debt, and the government does not want to subsidize the whale slaughter any more. SSCS is getting stronger.

@thomas3fd6 Thomas, here's a clip that shows the Japanese whalers shooting the liquid at the SSCS boat. It happens 38 seconds into the clip. An edit occurs before we see the liquid blow back into the whalers' faces, but in the show "Whale Wars", you can see the whole thing, uninterrupted. If you search on YouTube for "Whale Wars: Season 3 Sneak Peek" you will find the video. YT will not allow me to post a link.

This is a very tricky issue.
On the one hand you can't go around killing endangered species, especially when the whole ecosystem would fall apart without them.
But these guys do need to eat and support their families.
But I am on the sea shepherds side, I think what they're doing is right and fair.

Sea Shepherd attracts international attention only for raising money , maybe (hope they dont), but japanese kills only for raising money, so in my opinion it is bit weak argument.
Whaling is Japanese tradition, also killing elephants to chase ivory, but is this good tradition. Dont think so. We should respect animals right to live.

Here, RoboRights you are emphasising racist hatred. While I have absolutely no evidence this is true or false, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that this organisation has clashed with Norwegian whaling vessels in the past and therefore, your statement is slightly incorrect.
This being true, there are some racist folk here on the comments section. Only some (emphasis on some) Japanese people support whaling, that doesn't mean their entire ethnic group do.

In fact go look at the IUCN website which is the datebase for all animal and there population levels, If an animals population decreases by 5% over a 10 year period, they are considered endangered. Most whale species are currently critically endangered. Do you really want to argue with the #1 animal recording website used by ALL zoo's, Nature parks and wildlife experts alike?

@dirtydan1212121212 could you link me where you found ur stats, im interested. im looking at esasuccess and it only shows right whale population decreasing, but the japanese arnt hunting them... thats only in N america btw but japan only hunts mink, fin, humpback. And hunting waay below the increase in pop of them... your IUCN i saw grey whale pop in critical situation, but japan does now hunt them. and u say animal population, which specifically?

whoever wrote the blurb to this video is a moron, stop using the word terrorist and grow up. you clearly know the connotations people have of this word, and i don't believe that is what Sea Shepherdss are. by using the actions of two induividuals to explain the motives of an entire organisation you're just making yourself look like a fool.

@hangoverbloke In what way is this not terrorism? They're trying to impose their viewpoint by force. They're committing crimes against humans on international waters. What is butryic acid being tossed at another vessel? And if they sink a vessel in these freezing waters? Of course it's terroism. And frankly, they ram a Japanese vessel, I think it's fully within that vessels right to send a harpoon coming their way in self-defense.

@cmartel2 fair play that they may be, but they're also continuing the killing of amazing species under the acts of 'scientific research' while contradicting their laws on whale killing with dolphin hunting, parts of the same genetic family. my point is that sea shepherds wouldnt be doing this if they weren't fishing, and if you're working for a ship that dedicates itself to killing species of animals that people clearly care about, then expect it. 'terrorism' gets thrown around too much today.
