nope miest0908 , saw it go splat at edwards ( why we called it "dark spot" lol ) . lots of problems with this one. It was programmed to lower the flaps and put the engines at full throttle in case of a CPU crash, which it tried to do on several occasions inside the hangar during maintenance lol. most likely why it got scrapped. started seeing the "polecat" and "predator" about the same time. "Global Hawk" was there before any of them though.
@lvitch love to know whats the next 5-10 years of these things are gonna be like technology is moving so fast so love to take a look at the next generation or what scientists who build these are working on for the next generation of UAV's....Shame just got my pilots licence today for a twin prop and Im looking at it parked up on the tarmack thinking "damn your so freaking old now lol"
@lvitch Hi, these UAV's are they balsa framed or carbon fibre,or a mixture of both, similar to the RC planes? Do they use small turbo jet engines for the drive? i know some have props. Thanks
im guessing its wide-ass wing span allows it to glide to sustain level for long haul missions and economize fuel. also allows for stable flight so it may take clear pictures.
Yeah...its now Named polecat. Fact is wattever the military is working in now wont be public record for 30-40yrs. So just imagine watt there testing now. The only way the World will find out watt we have is when we enter WW3. I feel sorry for anyone who fucks with the US. Once this happens all will see watt all the UFO sightings have been.
In spite of good results, the DarkStar was officially terminated due to a crash. This fuels speculation that it simply turned into a "black" aircraft. We really don't know if it is still being tested.
The Department of Defense terminated DarkStar in January 1999, after determining the UAV was neither aerodynamically stable nor meeting cost and performance objectives.
