My freind died 3 weeks ago and thanks in advance for your sympathy because i'm tired of hearing it. He looked like a wax figure in one sense and asleep in another sense and dead in another sense. It was strange especially since I haven't been to a viewing in 19 years
I want to die with no pain, but I want to live my life first, I'm not afraid of dying only if i've lived my life doing what ive always wanted and my death wont be painful
You're not gonna be afraid you're gonna be really pissed once you see them touching your corpse. An angry soul watching and waiting for them to die to finally meet and kick their ass in the after life. I'd really picture it that way.
When I die, I want to be encased in a granite statue of myself wearing armor and a sword, and have it hidden deep in the woods with a plaque on it that says something in some ancient language. Badass.
@hoodenmcburg the statue would be nothing to you .. when you die .. your dead ! so why the statue -.- in the 18 century they would barry you in the ground without putting your name or a cross or nothing .. you dead they dont care about you anymore either hell or heaven ..
I went to a funeral director for my Year 10 work experience. I didn't quite like the idea of seeing the dead at first but I now really want to do the job and I really want to do embalming as I found that the most interesting part of it all. I don't find it scary, I find it peaceful.
It is so interesting to see how diffent cultures take care of loved ones. In Finland we do not embalm on regular bases as we think a dead person has a right to look dead. Embalming is only performed in special cases if the funeral is delayed due to long transportation or similar reasons.
I have the most respect for people in this line of work. They have to repair everyone and I mean "everyone" from people who have been run over by heavy vehicles to people whose head been blown off by gun shots however I am told there is a point beyond they will not go and they will notify the family to remind them this has to be a closed casket funeral.
@kidkong584 Some would consider it gross but it's actually a very nurturing profession. Congratulations on your decision! You'll make the passing of loved ones easier on their families, and that's saying something.
@countmein33 thanks. i used to want to be a doctor. the idea of being an embalmer scared the shit out of me. but then i thought "would i rather work with living bodies that i could mess up one thing and kill them, or would i rather work on dead people? hmmm"
Interesting. It would cost a family about $100 to have their loves one embalmed during the civil war. The man who perfected the art of embalming in his time, requested he not be embalmed when he died.
Eating while watching this video is nothing like being there physically. My cousin is a funeral director and had other jobs before that... I give him and others working in this field a lot of credit.
@squiresuzuki hows it pointless? it allows people to see there family member or friends in a fairly normal state before theyre buried or cremated. i know i'd rather go to my mams funeral knowing she'd been embalmed and she looks and smells ok rather than go when she hasnt been embalmed, the coffin closed and the thought of her starting to decompose in my mind!
@jimmypo Too bad, things decompose eventually whether they're embalmed or not. Life is life. Life dies. Death is natural. People decompose. People turn into dirt. Dirt makes trees and plants. Fighting that just for some christian tradition is stupid, in my opinion. But do whatever you want with your mother's corpse.
I've paid for a natural burial. interred into the earth in nothing more than a burlap covering, allowed to naturally and quickly decompose and return to the dirt in which we all came.
Never had to mess with an embalmed corpse, but I've had to deal with the "ashes" of many people.
In case you didn't know, your relative cremated remains aren't like little fluffy paper ashes. Easily 1/2 of the urn is filled with granular bone chunks of varying sizes--some of which are large enough to show the little marrow holes in the bone--which float on the top because they are lighter. The rest is a foul-smelling dark grey powder that retains a distinct odor of burnt person. Not kidding.
@Bullzeye95 Since you deal with that, you'll get a kick out of my story. I was visiting a cemetery that has an on-site crematory. I noticed what smelled like someone was grilling a steak nearby. Same smell as being right at a barbecue that's smoking. Long story short, the afterburner in one of the retorts wasn't working correctly, causing white smoke and particulates to spew into the air. That wasn't a steak cooking, is was a body being cremated! I was so grossed out, LOL!
I'll do you one better, though. A funeral director friend of mine had a story he used to tell at parties about a shipping casket he'd received from Europe. Ex-pat guy who wanted into the family plot.
Unfortunately not only had they neglected to pre-preserve the cadaver, but they hadn't even packed it in ice...and the case had been leaking from one corner for days. Best part? Guy was Hep A positive. Everybody who'd touched it needed a Hep A booster shot
@enigma800 From what I believe and understand, the dead hear better than we do and should be handled carefully, because they feel everything that touches them...so what about the ones that are cremated?
I can understand how this is necessary, and many kids have grown up with it in a family business, but at m college they had a funeral school. All the kids who attended becuaes they just wanted to get into it, were a bunch of weirdos. no doubt about it. Why would you CHOOSE a profession of working with dead people?
@xvoy2002 Why would it be weird to take care of a corpse so it doesn't smell or look like shit at a funeral with an open casket? I respect these people helping the related to the deceased.
I feel like you would have to be a good hearty person to do something like this. This is where "Treat others the way you would like to treated" comes in.
@mushakal its really easy to bring faith to god,i was a muslim too but i never used to pray but once i was lying on my bed and i heard the azan (call to prayer) then i went into the shower and started cleaning myself to pray during the shower i was praying to god for mercy for what i had done and forgivness after that i prayed every day listen to nasheed's instead of music i went to quran classes and now death is just a fear that has been shatterred into pieces and it cannot stand in my way
I had a dream like coffee's once. I was outside of my dead body and was constantly spectating what everyone was doing but could not interact with anything whatsoever. I was just floating around unable to speak or touch. Also thought to myself, "Damn, this is it, eh? This is what I'll be doing for eternity? I thought I'd live longer than this but man... were those really my final words?"
Fascinating stuff! Reminds me of the old Scottish folk song "When a Body Meets a Body Filled with Formeldehyde"....And I don't think the telephone operators at mortuaries should answer the phone & say "You stab 'em, we slab 'em" or say "You call...we haul....that's all!"
How can she handle a diseased body and wear all the protection, then turn around at 1:56 and wipe her nose with her sleeve next to her glove??? Can't believe they let that get by. OSHA would not approve.
From my religious perspective of corpse burial, even a little bit of tears splashes on the corpse body can be assumed very painful for the corpse him/herself.
I just shared a thought here, I don't mean to offend any other believers. Peace.

Ofcourse. You can put anything in your will. If you want your body donated to science, donate your organs, how you want your funeral, do you want to be cremated. You can even put that you don't want them to slice up your body to look for a cause of death (assuming it wasn't murder). It's your body, even after death and you can decide what you want to happen to it.
Thanks, the problem is that when there is money involved anything goes. People rip up dead people because they want to use their organs. Crazy people.
I study law. It's unfortunate, but the sad truth is that anything you wished for, even if you put it in a will, is easily contested after your death. When you're no longer around to defend your choices, it's easy for family members to do with your remains what they wish. For example, even if you registered to have your organs donated after death, your family members can stop them from being harvested.
I have always been very intrigued by the funeral business, preservation of the corpse specifically. I recently learned about "sky funerals", a tradition of Tibetan people where the body is flayed and set in an open field for vultures to devour, then the bones and left-overs are crushed into a mush and fed to the birds. I think I would like a sky funeral if not cremation.

true.. when my uncle died.. my dad and other uncles just washed him, covered him with white sheets and put in a feeble coffin and buried him the next day.
What a pointless procedure. Pump the body with a bunch of awful, toxic chemicals, that will then get leached into the ground as the body decays. Wow, what geniuses thought that up?
@patricioca those 'things' are peoples loved ones that should be treated with respect, embalming brings comfort to family members when they say goodbye in the funeral home.
@Urbannnomad its not just Americans that embalm their dead, this docu is put out incorrectly. I am a student embalmer in the UK 95% of deceased in my funeral home are embalmed, regardless of burial or cremation, people expect this to be carried out.
My friend went to mortuary school dropped out after 6 months because of the way his class mates treated the bodys. Mainly the female bodys, slaping tits, rubbing tha vag. real gross shit. And one guy was kick out because he cut the head off a penis. Thats why i want to be cremated asap.
this is always a tricky subject. i'm an organ donor and think that once you're dead and your loved ones have said goodbye, then the best thing to do is to try and help others in need. there are a lot of religious and philosophical ideas that don't like any kind of "desecration" of the body, though. it's all pretty interesting.
yeah i totally agree i think it would be beutiful dat even thought ur gonne part of you may be alive in someone else even thought some religions say dat by not having parts of your body when you come back in reincarnatiion it will affect you
those cadavers are usually used as a part of many crutial experiments in various scientific fields. read "Bodies" by mary roach, its quite a good read and has many examples of the importance of cadavers in scientific endeavor
I agree... I wish more people would donate their bodies for medical research/education & to the "body farm" for the development of forensic anthropology... its not like their doing anything important anyways... they're dead... embalming is such a waste...
They make it sound here as if this is something everyone wants, but in fact morticians give as hard a sell to embalming as they do to pricey coffins. They'll even say that embalming is a legal requirement, which isn't true in most places.
This is less about peculiar American rituals as more profits for the mortuary industry.
can anyone tell me what country should i put so this video wont copyright issue cause i cant play some of videos.. i've put united states and still some videos has copyright restrictions..
It doesn't matter what you set your country as. They can tell where you really are so even if you put it as United States they'll know you're not really living there so it won't matter. You have to actually be there.
just cremate your body. stop wasting unnecessary space on earth. selfish fucks

wtf! they are dead! they dont exist anymore..they are "things"
patricioca 2 years ago
@patricioca those 'things' are peoples loved ones that should be treated with respect, embalming brings comfort to family members when they say goodbye in the funeral home.
mattjasy 2 years ago
lol why would anyone go to mortuary school. that's pretty disturbing!!

i wanna die bitch fuck you
its the inevitable, and the everlasting
were dead longer then alive, so fuck it let it happen
fockya 2 years ago
Wow, people (Americans) need to realize that death is unavoidable, watching this was disturbing.

@Urbannnomad its not just Americans that embalm their dead, this docu is put out incorrectly. I am a student embalmer in the UK 95% of deceased in my funeral home are embalmed, regardless of burial or cremation, people expect this to be carried out.
mattjasy 2 years ago
hmm, seems to me like death will be just like before I was alive, didn't feel anything, didn't care, couldn't care. QED.

that actually makes sense to me dude..

My friend went to mortuary school dropped out after 6 months because of the way his class mates treated the bodys. Mainly the female bodys, slaping tits, rubbing tha vag. real gross shit. And one guy was kick out because he cut the head off a penis. Thats why i want to be cremated asap.

i so dont want to be embalded it seems scary i just want to die naturally and for the my body to leave in a natural way not be all like a clay statue
JulieRebu07 2 years ago
just make a will, state that you do not want to be kept alive by a Machine, you would never halve to worry about it...litteraly
MidNightT0k3r 2 years ago
true
JulieRebu07 2 years ago
this is always a tricky subject. i'm an organ donor and think that once you're dead and your loved ones have said goodbye, then the best thing to do is to try and help others in need. there are a lot of religious and philosophical ideas that don't like any kind of "desecration" of the body, though. it's all pretty interesting.
claypoolchick 2 years ago
yeah i totally agree i think it would be beutiful dat even thought ur gonne part of you may be alive in someone else even thought some religions say dat by not having parts of your body when you come back in reincarnatiion it will affect you
JulieRebu07 2 years ago
Just bury me in a hole, I really dont care as long as my body is not abused or molested lol.

lol...1:14 i bet shes really dead..? kinda sad that ppl would "donate" their love ones for them to be test dolls like rats and mices....
651Bo1 2 years ago
Right, throwing them in the dirt is just so much better. God forbid they might end up leading to something new.
MyassWins 2 years ago
People can also donate their own body to science
Uffdameta 2 years ago
those cadavers are usually used as a part of many crutial experiments in various scientific fields. read "Bodies" by mary roach, its quite a good read and has many examples of the importance of cadavers in scientific endeavor
Krogoth04 2 years ago 3
I agree... I wish more people would donate their bodies for medical research/education & to the "body farm" for the development of forensic anthropology... its not like their doing anything important anyways... they're dead... embalming is such a waste...
dabatjelly 2 years ago
They make it sound here as if this is something everyone wants, but in fact morticians give as hard a sell to embalming as they do to pricey coffins. They'll even say that embalming is a legal requirement, which isn't true in most places.
This is less about peculiar American rituals as more profits for the mortuary industry.

can anyone tell me what country should i put so this video wont copyright issue cause i cant play some of videos.. i've put united states and still some videos has copyright restrictions..
rommeldude1 2 years ago
It doesn't matter what you set your country as. They can tell where you really are so even if you put it as United States they'll know you're not really living there so it won't matter. You have to actually be there.
Yeah, it sucks.

Regardless, all that stuff is lame. If people want to watch something they should be able to without jumping through a bunch of hoops.
