  • SHOOT IT'S LIMBS ISAAC!! IT'S LIMBS!!!

  • now i will have nightmares for the rest of my life.0,:

  • Oh for fuck's sake. I'm sick and fucking tired of hearing how much better JC The Thing was much better. I'm particularly sick of hearing how shitty the cgi was. Let's all face it; yeah, the J.C. version was better story-wise and I was generally scared more. But this movie was much more disturbing not just based on tension, but based on the way they transformed too. The actors were great in BOTH movies, and I'm tired of hearing how terrible the story was. It. Was. The. Same. God. Damn. Storyline!

  • @TheMSpence89 i agree dead space movie NOW!!.

and to all, can we say that this movie is kind of to show what has happend to the swedisch resurces in the first movie. because in that movie there is scene where when(kurt russel and party) go to the swedisch centere they find a burned corpse with two faces like the edvard/adam thing in this scene..??.

    the thing.=

    dead space.

    splinter.

  • @faf26 it's actually a Norwegian camp, and that was the point, this movies a prequel to John Carpenter's version

  • @salvationkilla oh yeah norwegian my bad i havend seen the first movie in a long time.

i think its great that they made a new "the thing" movie hope they make another that plays afther the first one.i do have the comic witch tells what happens to the two survivers of the first movie.

  • @faf26 Yeah i hope they make a remake of Carpenter's to follow too and have it called like The Thing Part 2 or somethin, and then show what happend 2 the survivors, because i wanna know what happend 2 them, and if i had to guess, i would guess that the black guy(i think his name was Nauls, dont remember which one was which) was actually infected with the Thing too, and wondered off 2 try and escape, but thats just my guess

  • I feel like something was wrong with this film. I feel like it felt nothing whatsoever like the original, the original was a hell more darker and mysterious. Honestly in my opinion they should not have made this prequel now. It should have been done in the 80s without screwed up CGI. This film wasn't really scary. I slept fine. The original, you know the story. Thumbs up if you agree with this.

  • That's the guy from warrior!

  • There's that norris scream! 1:25

  • Lame! Chuck Norris would kill it with the knife! ;D

  • @DieGrenzFrequenz Chuck Norris cn kill it wit his stare :)

  • i hope they will make dead space movie

  • in case someone hasn't said yet, the guys behind dead space did based their game off the thing (the original 1900s ver. and not this "cgi" bull. and a few others like the blob and slithers( those guys where asome at props). i'm not saying I hate cgi I just like to see a little more effort in gore movies, just like slither where they only used cgi for scenes they knew for a fact that cannot be done with wires and fake organs.

  • @sonic2000121 ...you do realize most of the effects in this are practical, and that the CG effects (done by the same team that did District 9) were merely cosmetic additions (such as extra tentacles/appendages), right?

  • @WykydJester Sadly that's not true. What you see on the screen is virtually 100% cgi. The director wanted to rely as heavily as possible on practical effects but the studio shut down that ambition in favor of CGI because they (are retarded) thought the monsters moved too slowly and weren't scary. The crew working on the practical effects busted their asses to make great looking creatures but had to scrap nearly all of their work. Really sucks...

  • @splitsticks Actually you're wrong about the "100%" CGI part. They used a combination of both I've seen the footage of them filming the movie with practical effects. The Griggs thing, Juliette Thing, Split face thing, and Ice Block Thing all used animatronics and suits (Griggs, Juliette, and Ice Block Thing). Also even the arm that came out of Sander (both the long, crazy one and the severed hand with legs) were filmed with puppets.

  • A plasma cutter would be helpful

  • @SamuraiEdge305 A plasma cutter would make it worse...

  • Blacklight virus owns the Thing in terms of overall power and ability. Oh you guys know what this virus is don't you?

  • They should make a dead space movie

  • @TheMSpence89 That would be a good idea.

  • where is isaac clarke when you need him

  • I was going he's going to kill it with a knife, when it can melt human tissue, yeah he's dead.

But she needed to cook it till it was ashes, because and

Spoiler Alert if you haven't seen the first movie!!

That's the one they bring back to the American base and kill in the first movie, which is what makes Mac aware they're are in the #$%# now.

  • i has one question. do u think the ppl who are infected and transformed and such are still aware of whats happenin to them or what?

  • @ArcticWolf125 I think like, the minute that the thing takes over the brain they dont, so like, at this point its just the thing. However I want to know how long that takes, because do they know immidiately when they are, and the thing just waits? Or what?

  • @smansam probibly takes a few mins to take over, cause when the thing attacked earlyer and fused with that one guy, we was still screamin the whole time, and that guy who had the arm/thing fuse to his face still seemed aware cause he was lookin at the girl with the flamethower and such. so. dunno eather

  • @ArcticWolf125

It's possible because it mimics them perfectly, however I would think the merge or being eaten would kill them outright and it's smart enough to fill in the personality gaps.

  • @SunTrapped yeah. i was readin somewhere, that when the thing aint bein observed or anything, it dont act normal.. it will just stand in one place or stare dead ahead untill observed again, then it starts mimicing again, or it will move around tryin to infect the most ppl at once.

  • @ArcticWolf125

That would fit with the first movie spolier if you didn't watch, at one point when I believe Bennings was coming in from outside the thing was sitting near to the dog cages and once it got noticed it ran far enough to allow whom ever was around to lose interest.

  • If I watched this while high....... O_O

  • If i where to be in a movie i would want to be in something like this, and be one of the fuckers that die's in it.lol Would be cool to let the kids see!

  • that thing is from the first base and the second base found it and it started again

  • Just doesn't look right in cgi..

  • KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!

  • This film was such a disappointment.

  • 0:30 Should have had dead silence pro. ;P

  • Good thing we conveniently have a flamethrower.

  • @DullVivid I think they use 'em to deice pipes. Seams a little low-tech, though.

  • Damn she baked that thing nice to have a barbecue in the snow.

  • The Kardashian sisters without their makeup.

  • Here is a theory on the kerosene cans next to the corpse. Lars was STILL at the camp when Kate and Carter went after Sanders. Perhaps Splitface began to regenerate, and Lars noticed this and set fire to it once more before the chopper arrived. Spread that Idea around.

  • I would've seen or heard of the Thing, shat my pants, and PEACED THE FUCK OUT.

  • @fishworshipper Peace? I would have been flailing my arms around like a drunk baboon screaming!

  • @fishworshipper Amen brother

  • That "dying" sound at 1:25 is truly terrifying. A genuinely chilling sound eerily reminiscent of the roar of the Bennings-Thing in the original.

  • @BuildersBlockStudios Totally fucking agree. I'm gonna have a hard time sleeping tonight! Absolutely terrifying :O

  • Loved this scene, that guy...I don't know how the actor is called but he acted really fucking well, you could seriously see that he almost became petrified from fear, I enjoyed this movie so much I can only recommend it, in my opinion this is a very well made prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing many creepy and shocking moments, and the thing itself ? Well I never knew who the thing was, epic paranoia !

  • it would not catch me I would be dead from fear long ago!

  • I love how cgi helped with this monster, after watching this Split Face pretty much became & may stay as my most favorite monster of all the Thing's ever. Split Face is the best!

  • C.G.I. SUCKS!!!!!!

  • @atcred3 They actually used a combo of puppets and cgi

  • @ShadowScope No they didn't. They had practical effects, you can see them on Youtube. I think that Universal demanded cgi so they put that instead of practical effects.

  • @atcred3 you suck

  • I think if i was that guy i would just have stabbed myself

  • @roflcopter1231000 " I HEAR YOU MAIN !!! LOL !!! TUFF CALL !!!"

  • This movie was great but my theater ruined it by playing the audio WAY TOO FUCKING LOUD

  • "And the Best Monster of the year goes to.........."

  • By far best scene in the movie. The suspense was terrifying haha

  • KILL IT WITH F....oh, wait...

  • so were are the cans of karasin that was present when mac and doc turn up in the original? =D

  • @jameswanantony The director of the movie said on his facebook page "... It's a plothole... DAMN " xD

  • @Scratshouille hmmm shows what a good director he is then (NOT) he could have easily had them burning it out side after they killed it. with the cans of petrol. then maybe a little speech afterwards like in the original about finding out whos who. directors these days nooo brains

  • @jameswanantony Blame the writter, not the director, and also blame universal because they wanted CGI instead of practicals effect.

  • @Scratshouille it did use practical effects by combinding cgi and animatronics

  • @MrShaneo65 Yep, but all the practicals effects were replaced with CGI, the only scenes where they are still animatronics are the " first contact " and the scene just after, where they open the alien, all the rest were re-shot with CGI D: ( sorry for my english )

  • @Scratshouille wrong

  • @Scratshouille the writing was fine, director did well. and im tired of people complaining about "Too much CG

' if you watch the developer videos from when they worked on the film(found on youtube pretty easy) you can easily see that they actually used just as much practical effects as they did CG, more even. It surprised even me to find out that some of the monster scenes i thought were total Cg actually had little to none. ALL practical effects, people have just gotten that good we cant tell

  • @DaKo23Z You're wrong, they had practical effects but Universal demanded cgi, so we got cgi. Besides, cgi is the least of this movie's problems. There's inconsistency, Thing being stupid, plot holes the size of the island etc.

  • @DaKo23Z "I agree !!! It was awfully good !!! WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!"

  • Damn this movies traumatizing XD

  • i would shit a piss my self 4 times within 45 seconds :l

  • Wow. Truth to be told, when I heard about that movie, I though "Wonderful, anotehr shitty remake with CG awful monsters". And yet, after seeing this, I think I should probably look that movie, and see by myself if it's good. Because, Carpenter did a great job with the first movie, but a two-headed monster? That's so fucked-up that's brilliant!

  • @rhgzrhzrhz Another* dang it.

  • @rhgzrhzrhz Very true,it is The Thing after all.

  • @rhgzrhzrhz splitface's corpse was also in the 1982 movie, we can see it alive here though.

  • @rhgzrhzrhz its not awful and not a remake its a prequel

  • after watching Saw 1 to 7, nothing scares me anymore

  • @swchew123 Good thing Saw isnt even scary...

  • You know one of those scenes that are just so tense, you stop breathing? Like that scene with the kids and the raptors in the kitchen in Jurassic Park? This scene was one of them! When I saw this in theaters, I was ready to piss myself as soon as it looked at him and roared. I was like "OHHHSHIIIIIIIIT! RUN! FUCKING RUN!"

Then it got burned and I was all, "Whew!" Haha!

  • @TheRocketVoltage

Watch the 1982 version, the entire movie is that tense.

  • @MetaI4Brains DON'T I KNOW IT!

Yes it is!! I remember the first time I watched The Thing (1982), I ws watching it in the dark in my bedroom. Couldn't sleep for a week! It was great. <3

  • @TheRocketVoltage I would stop breathing for quite a while then have a huge headache due to the deprivation of oxygen.

  • @TheRocketVoltage i said the same damn thing and so did 3 other people after i said it.

  • @TheRocketVoltage You aint kidden !!!! LOL !!! WHAT A NIGHTMARE !!!!

  • As much as i love carpenter's version.let's face it.they will never make another fully anamatronic movie.i mean you might aswell hope that we'll start riding horses to work and fight wars with swords and shields.but compared to ALOT of movies nowadays.this actually doesn't have as much CGI as people say.some people just need to learn to accept that we're in the digital age :/ .

  • Stop! Drop! and Roll!

  • @pootman17 why not?

  • @DrJonathanMM Watch the original

  • @DrJonathanMM cuz in the carpenter movie they find it and take it back to their base and find out it's not dead :P

  • And of course, we all know this ISN'T actually the death of the Adam/Edvard Thing! :D

  • @pootman17 wait yes it is. isnt it

  • this movie is like dead space

  • @TheArmedBaby Funny you should say that. I feel as though the makers of Dead Space saw the 1982 film and it influenced their work. And then the makers of the the 2011 The Thing prequel saw Dead Space and it influenced their work. Really weird circle.

  • this is a very sick fuckt-up creature!!!

    its very terrifying!!!

  • Splitface is so terrifying to me... I feel sick.

  • Whats the bitch ass knife gonna do? A fucking flamethrower couldn't kill it!

  • @teecee2468 he was terrified so he had to arm himself with whatever he could get his hand on.

  • basic "the thing" rules. Rule one: dont trust anyone (not even mum). Rule two: dont fall for a french girls "Im so scared" act. Rule three: RUN LIKE HELL (most important)

  • Split-Face is a scary son of a bitch!! I really want to see The Thing in its natural/real form, I wonder how it really looks like..too bad they didn't show that in this new movie, cos that would have been awesome! I bet it looks really ugly and horrific in its real form, that's for sure...wouldn't want to come across it in a dark alley at night :S

  • @iclark2400 John carpenter in his interview said his intention was to keep movie goers guessing the true form of the creature. he never intended to show the creature in its true form.

  • @iclark2400 wasn't its true form the one in the ice the one that broke out thats what i thought :(

  • @MASTERTED94 We don't really know. Perhaps the Thing is a virus at it's core and infected the alien we saw in the ice.

  • @brainwavezzz thats what i thought i think that makes more sence cause i think its true fore could be something very small like backtera sorry dont know how to spell it anyway i hope they show how that guy killed himself and the dog dieing :)

  • This was the most disturbing part of the movie; in fact, this is part of the movie that was really the most fun part. All the other 'Thing' monster moments were good, but this was the only good scene that the movie really offered. Nice movie though.

  • Dammit MacReady, there is still cellular activity in these burned remains. They're not dead yet!

  • This movie was kick ass i loved it i liked the splitface #1 the helicopter one 2nd and the girl 3rd

  • i would have been utterly terrified

  • @BAILkrewCOMPANY that's putting it lightly haha

  • @BAILkrewCOMPANY Not even half as terrified as you would've been if you encountered any one of the things from the original movie.

  • nice :)

  • I love this movie. Split-face is truly one of the greatest monsters I've seen in the cinema so far. You must upload the Original-Thing's scene where it kills one of the Norwegians and we see it's 'true' form?

  • @TheShadowedOne1 it's not the true form, it's just something that it assimilated on the ship. (The Ship didn't belong to the thing)

  • @11808Clover Yeah, I found that out sometime ago. I wonder what else it's assimilated on other planets. I heard that they made a pod room filled with aliens from other worlds that we never saw in the film.

  • @TheShadowedOne1 Blair believed that it assimilated thousands before it crashed on Earth.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheShadowedOne1 the kraken is the greates monster

  • @TyVlog Which Kraken? There's a lot of interpretations of that monster.
