Have been fortunate enough to see this Beautiful Man live at Clunie. A Man who sings about the important things, love of his family, love of his land, love of his fellow man. It will be 21 years ago tomorrow since my father departed this mortal coil, miss talking with him so so much, he was such a wise and insightful Man.
I could copy the words of gunneralquist above. . . we did the same, with the same result. He's become our favorite artist, and the Gathering was an amazing experience, made all the more incredible by Dougie's live performance.
I just responded about ten minutes ago and then read some previous responses! You visited Glenfarg to go fishing??? My aunt lives in Glenfarg and we've gone there several times. You have no idea how much we Canadians love hearing this stuff and knowing that Dougie is just up the road. We stay at the Royal Dunkeld and rejoice in playing at the park at the bottom of the road on the Tay River with the playground. We love Dunkeld... and then we head of to the Beatrix Potter place nearby...
Why do my husband and I continually return to this? It speaks to us on so many levels, loving our Scotland trips and Scottish heritage as much as we do. We have visited Dougie's wee place in Dunkeld several times....this guy is a genius. Come back to Canada please so we can enjoy you here!!!
My wife and I are from the U.S. and we traveled to the Gathering in Edinburgh July, 2009. Although we knew very little about Dougie Maclean, we saw him perform this song, and I will never forget that experience for as long as I'm on this earth.
@cheerydavie but somehow you found your way to this. The beauty of youtube. Find your way through performances live, recorded, old, and new and find a gem, something that moves you or even changes you. My adventures through youtube fill me with joy and then I see a comment like yours. Even though you may have had a previous opinion, you listened, were moved, and thanked the uploader. That says it all. Thank you.
