Dairy show cows have a fuller longer life than many comersal cows . they are the pinicle of the dairy breed and are respected and treated in a more humane maner than we treat our own kind .
I think it is HORRIFIC that a cow that makes about Ten Gallons of milk a day isn't allowed to feed her own calf for more than 3 days total. This whole industry is built on incredible cruelty and promotes all kinds of diseases in humans and cows alike. It should be outlawed in every country in the world. Drinking a animal's breast / utter discharges is disgusting. This looks extremely painful and award. Cows being milked are re-impregnated so they have to deal with the double discomfort. Shame!
@ContaMuir17a I can understand your point of view in terms of wanting better humane conditions, some of the farms I visited in the US were less than ideal. However, until we develop better varieties of grasses and non-animal protein sources in the world, the dairy cow and milk is still one of the best sources of protein in terms of return and number of people fed for the input of resources.
@perryfan10 I agree with you 110% That's why I just sent you my "Factory Farm Cruelty" play list. After you educate yourself by watching all the videos in the list, I'll listen to what you have to say. Until then I have no choice but to consider you ignorant. By your own definition. Others may view this play list on my page or by visiting TinyURL dot com slash FactoryFarmCruelty
Please send the list to all of your friends! Thanks for helping to defeat ignorance!
@ContaMuir17a No thanks. I don't like to encourage people to be cruel to animals so they can profit from videos. While some are realistic portrayals of actual cruelty, most are not. The others are full of ignorance about animal welfare. I feel sorry for the humane inspectors who have to go on so many false alarms because of ignorant city people.
@perryfan10 No, you prefer to encourage people to be cruel to animals so you can make money selling their flesh to other people. Every "modern" industrial farm is a torture farm! Can you imagine being kept in a cage your entire life with 5 other people so small you can barely move? Or living over thousands of gallons of sewage? Never seeing the sun or the sky? Being beaten daily? Being ground up alive? Skinned alive? Your flesh being ripped apart by a machine? Knowing there is no hope of escape?
@ContaMuir17a Here's a very simple concept for you. If you really care about animals. the next time you see one being abused put down the stupid video camera and either stop the person or phone the humane society. Also every time you view an abuse video you are encouraging more abuse because someone is profiting from them. And last: get off of this video; these cows are pampered princesses.
@perryfan10 You know what happens when you assume! Right? I don't video animal abuses. Most videos made are undercover to bring criminal charges & gather evidence. THINK! Making people aware of abuses does not cause more abuse! It slows it down a little, then a little more, then it stops. Closing your eyes & keeping it hidden just perpetuates it. Money? How about the Multi-BILLION $ business built on animal abuse, called the Meat Dairy & Egg industries! Pampered princes with their slit throats!
@ContaMuir17a Illegal? I see the secular-progressives have gotten to you. The truth is milk is used all over the world to give people better health & a better life. You are clearly wrong about this being horrific; only a small group of brainwashed radicals would describe it this way. I find your position silly and unrealistic. I grew up with raw cows milk, butter, & cheese. In the USA, it's not the King's cow, it's not Obama's cow, it's now Karl Marx's cow, it's MY cow. Control Freak much?
What do you mean by proper dairy show. You mean a misguided dairy show where you march prize cows and run the risk of injuring them. These are idiot owners.
By proper I mean that it wasn't a show where the general passerby could have a go milking the cows by hand. And I wouldn't describe walking at a snail's pace as injuring them. These people care a lot for their animals. I don't mean to be rude, but I request that you take your arguments with other bloggers elsewhere.
It is not a question of Average. Different Holsteins give different amounts of milk. It varies from 30 pounds a day to 100 pounds a day. TGhe farmers leave 75% of the milk in the udders by not milking often enough. There is a hormone that is responsible for squeezing the milk filled tissue in the udder and the milk starts flowing out. The hormone stops flowing after so much time before the milk filled tissue is totally squeezed. The milk remains in the tissue,.......Continued
...... Part 2. You've to wait a couple of hours and stimulate the udders again for the release of fresh amount of the hormone so that the udder tissue will start getting squeezed again. The m ilk will start coming out again. The Universities have found that by fooling the cows as to the start and end of the days this hormone will start flowing and the milk will start coming out. But all that is not necessary. Just hand stimulation of the udder after a couple of hours is enough.
You may well be right. But there are cows that have a great capacity to give milk. But the farmers are very notorious. They will do any thing to develop high yield cows and leave 75% of the milk in the udders . That is a shame. Farmers like Oakstorm turn on me when I speak on the subject. Oakstorm profile says she is only a 19 year old girl and her pa has left her in charge of the cows. What does she know about the cows and milking them. She tries to appease the Vegans by milking them less.
Oakstorm, I know you do not like me. There is this 12 year old English punk boy Mcphlange who says I can't write english. Tell The world how biased u r by siding with McPhlange and say he writes better than me. Only tell the world you are Canadian when you say it so they will know how biased even the Canadians are. Here I give you a chance to side with the 12 year old English boy and show the world how stupid you are. I bet you also have not been schooled like this McPhlange.
Piss off... Cant i just comment on videos of show animals i like with out you commenting on everything i say,? Like really i have no idea what your talking about,, stop being such a know it all cus you dont know it all no one does.. and stop fighing with kids.. If your so grown up you wouldnt still be going on and on. Please just leave me alone..
Hahaha, that's the reason I taped the video, my friend will be happy to hear the complement on his Leader daughter. She is a nice cow though, recently went Excellent too!
Yay youtube comments, turning every FREAKING thing into a political debate.

THIS NEEDS TO BE OUTLAWED WORLDWIDE
AND THE ONLY FARMS THAT SHOULD BE ALLOWED
ARE ONES FOR EDUCATIONAL REASONS AND THE
ANIMALS ARE TREATED WELL IN THEM SO THESE
ANIMALS DON'T GO EXTINCT AND CHILDREN CAN
SEE THEM LEADING NORMAL HAPPY LIVES AND
THE BULL HAVING NORMAL SEX TO BRING A CALF
AND THE MILK IS FOR THE CALF NOT HUMANS.

how many gallons of milk per day on average do 6 year old holsteins such as these give?
these are awesome cows- awesome milk bags... almost too much!
chiniwillly 2 years ago
Umm some of these cows are probably going from around 10.5 through to 16gallons... roughly 40-60 litres at peak lactation anyway.
