The Hacienda was a cheap $3 a night (cheap even for 1964) motel, they were definitely there for "business" transaction and she decided to rob him.

Indeed he was well dressed and I have spoken to people who knew him and all say he was very well mannered. Cooke several affairs, but prior to Boyer he had never been accused of abusing women. I don't agree that he was a misogynist. You have not offered any evidence of this behavior.

This song is a remake of a gspel standard sung by the Harmonizing four out of Richmond, Va. And it seems they are backing him up on this one. Peopl forget that sam cooke came straight from the gospel circuit and a lot of his music was just retoolings of gospel songs. for example his song "Loveable" was just the Soul Stirrers hit "Wonderful" just change a few words and you have an r&b hit! Lisa Boyer was a known prostitute (she was arrested for prostitution a month after murder and was convicted of 2nd degree murder in 1979) who obviously set Cooke up.  Boyer and Franklin could not have been the only ones in that motel office that night.
