Die for god? Why would god want us to die for him? It's because of people that are ready to kill and die for a religious purpose that there's so much war about things like that in the world.
@KitsuneShapeShifter Dying for God does not mean murder... Dying has more than one context in Christianity. You "die" to your old self for God, and surrender your life to take on a life out of love and selflessness for Christ and God's will. Jonah 33 doesn't want us to go around killing everyone. Listen to "Fire at will." Its spiritual warfare, not physical warfare. We "kill" others with love. True Christians have no reason to fear or be feared. We're harmless.
@KitsuneShapeShifter Think out side of the box and stop thinking so narrowed mindingly, to die for God is to live for Him. Live for His cause, selflessly for Him and not for yourself, and all your selfish needs. To proclaim to the world WHO the Lord Jesus Christ is.
@KitsuneShapeShifter God say's to not deny him, If someone has a gun to your head and asks "Do you Believe in God?" Yes Will pull that trigger, killing you, so are you ready to pull that trigger and die for God?
Die for what's right?
Christians live by example, so if I say I love God and follow his word, I better do so, and self sacrifice shows dedication, Would you rather be a Martyr or a Murderer?
@Armstrong014 Isn't it easier just to lie? I would say I don't believe, while actually believing. I get to live AND believe in god that way. He says not to deny him? Well I'm not, it's just a lie, I'm not actually denying him that way if I don't mean it.
@KitsuneShapeShifter God say's it is Never alright to lie, but rather stay silent, and in the case I gave they would have shot you, you didn't get live as a example and everyone thinks nothing special of you, in death saying yes, people would ask the question "Why would they die for God?" and that question is enough for them to find God, In death I live, I go home (Heaven) and bring people to Christ (Through example), I would smile and say yes.
@Armstrong014 When did he say it's never alright to lie? Actually, how can you be SURE that he said that? The bible has been rewritten and changed alot you know? But in the end, if we were both left with that kind of senario, I would be the one to live and have fun and you'd be the one to die because of your pride. I doubt I would go to hell after that because I would live a good life where I help others the best I can. So, yeah. I guess I get to have it better in the end.
@KitsuneShapeShifter In death I let people know my faith, that I am more than just talk, I can say I am christian and will do things, but none of that matters if I deny my God to save my own life, as if I lay down my life to be an example, I will save more people from hell than you would being a coward.
@Armstrong014 I got a question. Imagine two people. The first is a person who doesn't believe in god, however, he lives a completely selfless life where he cures sick people and saves orphans from the street. The second is a person who does believe in god, he follows everything god says and spends his life teaching people about god and christianity, however, he constantly tries to force his beliefs onto others. Who, in your opinion, should go to heaven if only one could? Just my curiosity asking
@KitsuneShapeShifter I do not know what God would do myself, for I am not him, but the Christian has good intensions, and the none Christian Doing good deeds as he does would have heard of God, And in order for him to not believe in God must have denied him, Christians as a whole should tell the Christian to step off abit, and should gently bring our do-gooder to Christ.
This has always been a hard question for Christians, It is all about faith.
@KitsuneShapeShifter Our time on this earth is very short and we are basically just prolonging death, flesh is simple dust, but our spirit is alive and if we except God and believe in our hearts and dedicate our lives to him in the end we will live eternally, but not eternally in this place but a MUCH MUCH MUUUUCH BETTER PLACE :D
It seems to me like people like to go out of their way to argue against God these days. On another note, It is one thing to say you will die for something and another to have the gun pointed to your head.
I did not mean creationism specifically, although that can be part of it. I meant along the lines of not believing in any specific supernatural phenomena or religion because they attempt to give you answers to things which are still unknown (or even now known such as evolution). and after they give you such answers which they cannot prove true they expect you to live by a complex set of rules which can at times be incredibly harmful to yourself and to others.
@funnybuttmonkey Ah, but assuming you mean "wind". No, i cannot see wind. However we have more than just sight don't we? I can feel the wind. I can hear the wind. And I can also use scientific instruments to study and understand the wind and see representations of it, all of which prove its existence empirically.
@BrawlJuice If you believe in God, you can feel Him. If you believe in God, you can hear him. You feel him move anytime someone is kind. You can hear him every time you want or need something. It all depends on whether you choose to listen or not. Would you like to continue this conversation through PM so I can point out some of the other flaws of your argument? The least I could do is help you to argue convincingly. And I'm sorry about my previous comment. My iPhone died while I was typing it.
@funnybuttmonkey Children have the same feelings about santa, feelings aren't evidence for anything. we have emotions and delusions, thats fine but they don't count as proof. anyone can feel a good feeling inside when they do something nice, thats not god, its chemicals in the body doing that. and even by some crazy chance it was a "god" that is absolutely no proof for Christianity or any specific organized religion. PMs is good, its hard to make convincing arguments with limited space.
i guess I'm the only one here that took a completely atheistic approach to this time the first time hearing it. It seems more empowering under that view rather than the religious view which just enforces mindless self sacrifice. Standing up for empirical truths and philosophies that better the world just seems more respectful than going to such drastic measures to be willing to die for a set of beliefs just tossed at you for which you have no proof of whatsoever.
I'm sorry you consider my comment a troll because it was not my intention to disrupt anyone. I was just legitimately stating my feelings towards this song; that i think that this is an awesome song but that the message is completely disgusting.
this is a fairly dark band. I like most of their songs, but a few I have a hard time listening to (Fire at Will, for instance). THis is a song that I can listen to tho :)
Ah, haha. Y'know... I knew that too. xD I was having a slow day yesterday. By your user name it's pretty obvious what kind of music you like. *approves*
um... i agree with the, "awesome song" part, but i'm not a fan of flyleaf... oh, well. at least we agree on two things: God is awesome, and Jonah33 is one of the best bands he's created.
A song about screaming for your faith with no screaming in it. If they weren't going to scream, couldn't they at least have pulled in a christian band screamer like Tim Lambesis, Jason Wisdom, or any of the other many christian screamers as a guest vocalist?
I don't understand how anything predictable is automatically bad. Plus there's many ways to include screaming without making it "predictable." And I don't think this song rocks very much because 97% of the music I listen to doesn't have a chorus. :)
Amazing song. Really. If one is ready to live out what they believe, then they would have already known what might lie ahead in life. Many others might put you down if you stood up for what's right.
why are we afraid of words like war?
too true.
