It seems as if the conquering Europeans left a trail of blood and destruction where ever they went...from the Native Americans in the U.S, the Aboriginal people of Australia to the Algonquin people in Canada. And yet we only learn about them in passing terms as if already deciding that they are extinct..why don't our childrens textbooks write the truth about their existence rather than glossed over versions that make few "heroes" and the rest "evil"?

I always will stand and beleive in my people but if Quebec wasnt so up high on their horses maybe we could reclaim ourselfs and be the ALGONQUINS that were here first and as bad as it sounds be part of the assimulation to us in Quebec as todays society. I was kind of insulted, I'm from Eagle VIllage First Nation-Kipawa, a reconized algonquin community, we are one out of 9 or 10 of us and we were not even on this documentary, why? I think we need one cheif for our nation, to represent all of us, because all of our cheifs argue against one another and how are we suppose to move ahead like that? The government just laugh at us.

Before the whites came to India we were fighting among our selves which made it easy for the whites to conquer us and rule over us. The whites stole a lot from Indian. We realized the only way to defeat the whites is by putting our differences aside and joining forces and we sent the whites packing off to Europe.

Moi je suis québécois de souche mais avec des origines divisés, j'ai un ancêtre Huron Wendat et mon arrière grand- mère est Irlandaise.Moi je dis qu'on devrais construire notre pays, le Québec. This is such a deep source of shame for Canada. I hope that the government's recent long-deserved apology to our First Nations people is only the beginning of a process that will restore the independence and dignity to all. Hopefully we can look forward to a sequel in a few years that tells a happier story.
