  • My history professor was in that crowd how epic

  • Fugazi, Jesus Lizard, Shellac, June of 44 and so many other great bands that will never be remembered except by those of us who seen them and lived it. This time of the 90's is so special and will never be repeated. No matter what these kids say about their bands and the "new scene", we will always know the truth.

  • @EmeraldJEM710 i was a kid in the 90's and didn't even know about music outside of local music televisions, then in 2002 I went to Ireland, for a couple of days and bought a Ramones album, it all started there. Got an internet connection in 2004 (poor family) and started discovering all these great bands, through related Ramones videos. Thank you Punk, you made my life!

  • This a really fucking crowd, no stupid "hardcore" dancing.

  • 167 people sat in the waiting room too long

  • top ten punk songs ever

  • fuccccccccck i wish i was there! Id kill to see Fugazi in the late 80s- 90s..

  • This reminds me of when I was in a band and we played parties (and whatnot). It's simplistic, people are jiggy with things, etc. I love this tune.

  • Dont need HD when you got good music cause you have nothing to complain about

  • Jest to jeden z tych numerów przy których słuchaniu zawsze mam ciary...

  • Hahaha everyone's initial scream is a really brief "YEAH!" and then they all shutup to let Fugazi do their thing.

  • Greatest video ever...wish I had been there!

  • Damn what I'll give to go back and time and be at a freaking fugazi concert!

  • this is crazy as fuck

  • love it

  • Guy Picciotto is the fucking man!

  • I will take a band's overall texture and feel over the structured and pristine any day.

  • @dyl9613 They've sold millions of albums. If their legacy is anything, it's that it's possible to be both DIY and succesful.

  • These cats just put on some of the funnest shows I've been to. Just great music and fun people . Can't beat that. :)

  • Christ, I can't believe I went to these shows. I can smell the sweat and B.O. through the screen! Embarrassing, but they were fucking fun at the time.

  • If this video doesn't impress some people that is fine and dandy. I do know that at the time the video was recorded, the band was a small phenomenon. This was a band and a show for people who really wanted it and sought it out. You can tell by the audience reaction. I remember being totally overwhelmed by the music. That is the beauty of this video. It captures all of that for me. Simple. I am glad this moment was properly documented even if it is a bit low-fi.

  • El tio de los gayumbos es bestial ¡¡¡¡

    Greath Band ¡¡

  • One year I saw them 4 times in 6 months! each show only $5 bucks- fuck yeah mother fuckers the way it should be!

  • just clocked the guy in a gorilla biscuits tee in the bottom right at 0:44 fuck me, what a scene- wish I was there

  • EXCELENTE!

  • we all probably make AT LEAST 3% of the views on this. so classic, you just have to rewatch it over and over again.

  • 165 people just don't get it and are tragically hopeless.

  • these guys in big white t-shirts are awesome

  • Just listenning to music with my younger best friend and he suggested that I listen to this video. And after the first verse, i was fucking hooked! These guys fucking rock!!!!

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Oh Em Ge! I jizz myself everytime i watch this video. Thanks for sharing.

  • IF this were nowadays everyone would be recording it on their phone.

  • @TheUniversalAcid u must be tarded

  • I wish I could've been there, but I would have only been 3 months old.

  • @fvgdfbdokd This was the 80s before everyone was fat. Why post a critical comment then apologize? If you apologize for your opinion it must not be worth much.

  • @mresplendent my opinion is fact to you son. Now go scoot your boney ass into the kitchen and make me a sandwich!

  • @fvgdfbdokd I am your son now? Where is my allowance? No sandwich without my allowance.

  • @fvgdfbdokd I respect that - but I will say that it's evident that you have no punk attitude. And that's not an awful thing, but as any punk will tell you: The weirder, the better

  • @coldflameburned I don't have a problem with punk in general and my friend referred me to this video. Just wasn't uber impressed.

  • @fvgdfbdokd God knows why xD I have so much respect for Fugazi - producing all their albums themselves and whatnot. And the song is so catchy XD

  • few songs can bring and entire audience together, and this is one of them

  • Happy Thanksgiving to this awesome Fugazi video. I give many thanks.

  • The kid in the dress still makes be laugh even after years of watching this vid,

  • This video is PURE FUCKING ENERGY!!! LOVE IT!!! I still get goosebumps every time i hear that bass intro.

  • for the people who say"been there done that" to have been here and done this was a part of history to me.i time when music was taking new turns ..when you could turn on the radio..yes radio..remember,and hear something so completely new and different that it turned you around and made you say ..man who is that.thanks to rock 88 ..88.1 wknc in raleigh n.c i heard this and i think that it was in the brewery that i saw them (which was recently demolished) in the late 80s along with C.O.C........

  • Awesome crowd :)

  • vraagje je af waar sommige muziek is gebleven

  • tis nice

  • Everytime I hear the RHCP do a cover of this song, I punch my grandma in the face!!!

  • @madmick17 poor grandma!

  • I love when the crowd heard the bass line and they're all just like YEAH!!!

  • i love this band. one of the best to ever do it. this is the real deal kiddies so take notes

  • the guy in the skirt behind the bassist....

    lol

  • 1992 Melbourne university was the one and only time I saw these guys slept through Evan Dando. Woke up and saw these guys.

  • es una fiesta sin duda.

  • Whoops I mean Ian MacKaye not all of Minor Threat. The memory grows foggy, kids.

  • What a breath of fresh air when legendary Minor Threat exploded into a whole new level of rock genius. For my money they never quite topped those early E.P. days.

  • Absolutely magnificent...

  • This looked fun.

  • What year was this? o:

  • Like how the focus on Charlie's Silouette dancing at 2:30-2:40. Charlie(wearing the skirt) was a fixture at a lot of the great shows in DC. That guy could dance forever.

I've got to find the video I made of Fugazi, The Ex and NoMeansNo show in DC. That show was like a sweathouse lodge. Not sure how to post it from a VHS tape though....yea I'm oldschool, but that's all we had back then....camcorders! Haha

  • @dabeel Haha that's awesome! VHS haha brings back memories of my childhood. (I'm a 90's kid). Anyway, if you wanted to, you could go to people who turn VHS to DVD's, and probably also on digital format on like a thumb drive or something, then upload on youtube? :)

    Peace

  • tears of awsomnesss

  • tears of joy

  • skinny arse jumpy straight-edge white punk rock gods. saw em a few times in sydney in the 90's. no lights, no pedals, no bullshit. at sydney town hall 93 the place was full so they let a few of us on the sides of the stage. it was some furious shit. direct. diretto as guy would say. seems to me there's nothing quite like this any more. am i wrong? if so please let me know,

  • you'll never be as cool as this crowd

  • props to the guy in front of the camera wearing a gorilla biscuits t shirt !!! 00:30

  • one hurdred and seventy sheep.

  • @ggallinyoufuc lmao word scufuck

  • @area149 I forgot he had hair at all.

  • @KommunistKat his cancer went away for 2 hours

  • For some reason I always find it weird seeing Ian with hair

  • Why is "And I''m a Mormon" the top related video?

  • awesome yeah!!!!

  • Magic.

  • so far so pasti so good... gak ada matinya, fugazi keren banget..!

  • so-me brought me here

  • so-me brought me here

  • WUGAZI FTW

  • hi reddit lol

  • The music is better than the argument. Trust me.

  • @mresplendent yeah but it was still good lol

  • being an outsider can be lonely and is difficult at times, but there are postives to being of good taste and that is discovering little gems like this video. i am self-employed and very worried about the economy and my work going down the pan. i tune in to this video each day and it fills me with great spirit and resilience. music can be so powerful and uplifting and this single video is deeply affecting, even after the 52nd viewing. POWER TO THE MINORITY...we know we're right.

  • This is just straight vibing to the music. When you let the music take over your body and mind. You don't really see anything like this anymore. This is fucking amazing!

  • @spinelesslaugh Well, aren't you a snowflake?

  • @TheSouthernKiller80 better to be a snowflake than a prickflake

  • @stfcgrey Hey, I'm just saying... because well, too many teens always say "Oh, I'm the only person at my school who listens to.... so and so. I don't listen to mainstream crap. I'm so special!"

  • @TheSouthernKiller80 And this poor kid has now deleted all his posts because of this. You probably mean't no harm but some kids 'are' different and what may seem like attention seeking to you, is a call for solidarity to others. Anyway on a musical note, here in the UK, the charts are awash with shite like Rhianna and bullshit autotune commercial 'urban' crap, so anyone watching 'this' video and enjoying it 'is' special.

  • @stfcgrey Hmm. But, what you call shit isn't shit to others. So really, anyone's taste in music doesn't make them "different" because it's a matter of opinion.

  • @TheSouthernKiller80 I see your point but if we're talking numbers, which would infer a minority vs a majority, the masses will go for the commercial tunes and the fringes will go for the leftfield music of substance. I'm sure you'd agree that music churned out by the likes of Simon Cowell et al lacks quality when compared to music such as Fugazi, Yo La Tengo, Mogwai, Leonard Cohen to name but a few. Surely this goes beyond opinion?

  • No, it is Henry Rollins. Don't you see all the tattoos?

  • Is that Ian mackeye?

  • \o/

    Maior bagunça. XD

    Amo isso!

  • no slam dance, no circle pit, just passion.

  • watching this video gives me hope....i literally feel elated watching it

  • They're so fucking tight live

  • some people from the audience look really high :D about the band - i can't even imagine the feelin' they are experiencing right now!

  • Eat fuckers! Then rock like men not concentration camp victims.

  • @uszatoichi um, they were kids you fool. Kids who played music that meant something to a lot of people. Sorry they weren't fat, cause then maybe you would have liked them?

  • @ryanthethird

Nope. The band members were all well into their 20's by this time. Not 'kids'.

  • Look at Guy at 1:37, so smooooth.

  • the straight edge movement is almost as much of a joke as this sorry excuse of a "punk" band... It's sad that people view "bands" like Fagazi as originators of the punk movement and know nothing about the true innovators, such as The Sonics.

  • @penquinftw

let people be entitled to their own opinion, you dont have to be so cynical....

  • @penquinftw I think your points are off the mark. Fugazi was not/is not part of the "straight edge movement." Straight edge is traced back to Ian's former band Minor Threat. Get it straight(ha!). Furthermore, no one said Fugazi was one of the original creators of the punk sound. That goes back to the Stooges, The Dolls, The Ramones, , etc. They are part of the continuum though and a very important link in the chain. What is up with calling them "Fagazi" anyway? Not smart or cool. Just ignorant.

  • @penquinftw Fugazi is a post hardcore band. They didn't invent and don't claim to. Don't be such a twat.

  • I don't know what to say bad.

  • sTRAIGHT EDGE FTW :)

  • Back to the roots! Love it so much!!!

  • Man, im feeling the vibe even from behind this screen

  • I would do anything to be at this gig

  • THIS is a show. i went to my first punk show when i was twelve and never, ever had the urge to see a band in a stadium or HUGE hall because nothing beats the intimacy that comes along with seeing an awesome band in a small room

  • @ekimusman2

    totaly, man

I kinda hate festivals because of this

  • @ekimusman2 fucking right you are!!

  • what a crowd! what a scene! I love it!

  • Yeah, the place/date info is at the very end. Truth is I always watch the beginning because that is the best part to me. I watched it all the way through the first few times but that was like a year and a half ago. I love it when the band kicks in and everyone starts moving. That is solid gold Fugazi right there..

  • the guy who told me thats post-hardcore is a dumb fuck ass bitch, seriously... -_-

  • awesome, lol the year i was born

  • eu sou um peixe boi, auê auê auê auê!

  • Can anybody tell me where/when exactly this took place. Thanks, and yes I am too lazy to figure this out

  • @Villageiddyit Wilson Center, Washington, D.C. December, 1987

  • @mresplendent 1988*

  • @matt6777 Hmmm. I was at that show but I guess it was a long ass time ago. Maybe it was 88. I do recall being home from college for Christmas break which would mean it was 87 and not 88. But again, I am probably wrong.

  • @mresplendent I only know it was 1988 because it says it at the end of the video. (3:03)

  • @mresplendent thank you dude. this is by far the best version i've come across

  • @Villageiddyit You're too lazy to wait until the end of the video? That is pretty lazy.

  • @stylewosubstance sorry man, i usually exit after the music stops playing or I hit the replay button. though i really enjoy the video the crowd is full of vigor it's perfectly fitting with the song. what is your favorite vegetable?

  • @Villageiddyit tomaters or potaters

  • More bands need to learn from Fugazi. They aren't trying to act cool or tough, they're just having a great time on stage. I think a lot of newer bands need to learn from them.

  • boy does this take me back...i opened for these guys years ago..those where good times..

  • 155 people are still sitting in the waiting room

  • Jesus shit these motherfuckers can dance
