Truecrypt, can't thank you enough for all that you have done, all the joy and pleasure your postings have given us. Sofronitsky and Scriabin, and so much more. Heartfelt thanks, alkuhn1
This was an unhealthy period for art in general. Expressionistic.Ravel,Debussy discovered spanish, negro,Asian influence -it saved them.Rachmaninoff discovered shaped melody an old standby.roslavets and these others: it's not safe.Go to the next period Berg ,Sessions ,Copland variations , there are ghosts in this music trying to be re-born. Give it up its purply substance will kill.Give it up I say!
Supposedly, Scriabin meant for this sonata to represent the four elements; earth, wind, fire, and water. The stable chords at the beginning represent the earth, the cascading fourths represent the blowing wind, the rumbling low notes represent uneasy waters, and the five note arpeggios represent wisps of fire.
"Deeply disturbed. This one I find the most deranged of all of the Scriabin sonatas." There is a lot of distortion, wow/flutter, and hiss from the primitive nature of the recording. That does affect the way the performance comes across. I prefer Ashkenazy's performance, although Sofronitsky owns the 9th.

I love to listen to Scriabin.Although this is not one of my most favorite pieces,he plays very beautiful. So far, I only heard Pogorelich play Scriabin. I don,t know why but so far he,s my favorite, although he has a very special handsetting
You've only heard a few people play scriabin??? Look at the favorites on my page then, there are dozens of pieces and even rolls of scriabin himself playing...
i love scriabin, and i love all of you for loving scriabin too :)

I believe a revised version was published in 1996. And if you
don't know of it, search for Scriabin Society. Not possible to
post a link here.

I find this the most sensual and erotic of his music. Have studied most of his somatas. This one is the most extreme, enters new worlds.
The figuratiuons are so sensual. I love flicking my tongue over a hard clit when I hear this. Then the deeper thrusts as the passion arises.
All music is sex. I make no apologies.
I performed this once at a church fete (!!!)

I hadn't heard Sofronitsky's performance of Scriabin's 8th til now. This is now my favorite interpretation of the 8th!
- Thanks Truecrypt, you're performing a great service to pianists everywhere. :)

The feeling and atmosphere of this performance, which shouldn't even be considered as a performance, but a universe of its own...beyond perfection

likewise, this 'sonata' is a glimmer of transcendent universal perfection... & beyond
.

Why post it with more than a third of it missing? It's been cut off with at least 6 minutes deleted.

Because there is a 10 minutes limit... but you can try to find part 2 ;)
