The point is that it is something with a bit of originality with mixed musical influences and not the derivative, simplified preening of 90% of rap out there (and actually "hip-hop" is a more current term, Captain Livin-in-the-90s). You could even argue that it is more true to the roots of rap/hip-hop in that the song has a political bite and social commentary.

I don't like Rap but Akira The Don is really something ^^ . I like his songs because he doesn't sing about Sex, money and girls. It's too bad society works with these images so it "sells" better than serious lyrics.

But he's trying to put serious messages in his songs. And he has choosen to be a cartoon rapper to add humor to what he says and try to make people understand things. (He is maybe trying to do something similar to Walt Disney but in his own way).
