Netflix is not available until you upgrade to SP3 for Vista. Then you will have to monkey with the settings to get the program to actually work. I have been screwing around with mine for the last two hours and still it fails right as the movie is about to load. I have allowed netflix and silverlight and media center through the firewall, it still tells me I have an internet or network problem, Oh yea I am typing this on my mac which continues to work flawlessly
This may not work for everybody, but if you open a command prompt (All Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt) and at the prompt type "%SystemRoot%\ehome\mcupdate -u" (minus the quotes... this command forces VMC to attempt an update), then make sure to close and restart Vista Media Center, you might see a Netflix Tile to the left of Recorded TV. This is what finally worked for me. Your mileage may vary.
This is worthless. When I went to TV and Movies there was no Netflix option. Now I have to spend an hour searching for the instructions. And it pretty clear that I am not the only person with this problem.
This is what angers me. A NetFlix Customer Service rep to me Microsoft would be releasing the option over a 48 hour period, what I am upset about is, they made sure to put out a press release complete with video demos, without releasing the actual patch to the consumer; they were more concerned with press coverage, than customer satisfaction. Not only that, but when I called MY PC's Tech support, they didn't know anything about it.
Thank you for your comment, I thought I was the only one. I read the press release, but there no instructions on how to obtain it. They said, "look in VMC"; but I don't see it either, so what the F*CK are they talking about!?
Ha, Ha, very funny. But, all jokes and sarcasm aside. I am posting here because this channel is a base of support and propaganda for VMC. Causing me to think that the person responsible, for this Channel, must be an employee or preferred user. In essence, I was talking to him/her.
No, I wasn't making fun of you. You had actually (probably without realizing it) replied to my comment, so I thought you were addressing me. No big whoop.
SO you actually have it on your system? did it arrive as a windows update? did you turn off your PC and reboot? did you notice anything loading onto you PC?
Yeah, I know where to find and how to use Windows Vista Media Center, it is what I use with my Hauppauge 1800 MCE Kit. The issue isn't how to find VMC, it is how to find the NetFlix option. I have read the press reports and videos, that have said, " look under TV+Movies, and It is not there.
Thanks for you help. I know you have good intentions, please do ease up on the tips. I am not blind nor am I an idiot. I am quite PC literate. I know you trying to help, but your suggestions are annoying. It is as if you are assuming I don't know about simple things, that even a 4 year old could understand. Your not preaching anything profound. Again, thanks.
Every time I try to log in it keeps saying my clock is off or something. What does that have to do with signing in to Netflix? Anyone have ideas?

Why is it failing with me? When I select the Netflix tile, WMC just tells me it failed to load the application.

I'm in the boat as you I just found out about this
thing and can't find it anywhere.

you are right - this is an absolute waste of time. Better off abandoning Media Center, and just sticking with the web browser.

I was stating the video was worthless not the feature. I can't control my web browser with a remote from a couch. (.. yet) It has value.

You should never call your PC vendor's tech support concerning software they didn't create. You should contact support from the software developer.
In this case Microsoft.

Today it is finally working. Look again; try each day. It will probably show up soon.
If not, post a reply here. I will be notified and will contact you.

maybe I can help here.
VMC is poor choice of word, but they meant Vista Media Center. If u have Ultimate or Home Premium
Write "Media Center" in Start box, and u will see "Windows Media Center" under Programs. Click it
If this is ur first time, choose Express
Go to Settings->General->Automatic Download Options->Download Now
Let it do its bit, and u migth have to restrat PC after install.
Start VMC, and look Netflix under TV + Movies link
