The PS1 game Final Fantasy VIII. The guy is called Squall and the female is called Rinoa. At the dance, her boyfriend Seifer is there and shes there to talk to the headmaster. Seifer turns evil because of Edea who is under somebody called Ultimecia's control. Rinoa and Squall end up together in the end after a bunch of hardships etc.

It's from final fantasy 8. He's a student and she's there to talk to the head master. The two characters over the course of the story fall in love and end up together at the end. But the dance scene is funny in that she asks him, he says no, and she ignores his answer and drags him onto the floor anyway.
