  • Besser kann man Jazz-Rock nicht spielen....Montreux forever !!

  • In 1976 or so my brother brought home an unreleased album by Passport. We loved it so much that the groves turned white from playing it so much. Kat from Katmandu was my favorite.

  • 5 people are still thinking "Klaus Doldinger = Das Boot OST"

  • I was at that very concert (1980 Montreux) - the same night after Passport Van Morrison was next (with Pee Wee Ellis and Mark Isham as a horn section) - and then B.B.King with his large band. After his set B.B.King invited Doldinger, Ellis and Isham up for a long wild jam ..... quite a night ! Montreux always takes place in July for about 2 weeks+, the same year I also saw Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Stanley Clarke, and many more.... I went there every year from '80 - '88 until I moved to NYC.

  • I'm 26 years old and I identify myself with this kind of music, taste great, did not know the band is now know, success.

  • Hatte sie live erlebt in Karlsruhe oder Rastatt.

  • Timeless! Left Passport behind during international move 25 years ago, and I am right back there again! ...well, just for a few minutes anyway (don't have any of my original recordings!)

i try with my broken englisch, to translate, klaus doldinger, without him are trailer-songs,about "tatort",

  • Eccezionale...non ho parole!!!Musica sublime che mira allo spazio e all'alto...è una ricerca del divino o Zeion!!!!enti astratti ridondanti permettono ai nostri sensi di subire effluvi di atomi!!!

  • allucinazioni a sfondo mistico!!!

  • Very nice video, I've always liked Passport very much. I think they are one of the bands where the term jazz-rock really fits. I call Klaus Doldinger the Herb Alpert of Germany because his tunes usually consist of a nice simple melodic head followed by solos then back to the head and out. I love it. Too bad he went for the mellow stuff in the end, for me it was their downfall. I hope he at least made some money from 'selling out' but somehow I doubt it. Always one of my favorite bands though.

  • profeta 5 arp solina fender rhodes lo maximo

  • Passport were the greatest german jazz-rock/fusion band till the late 70ies when leader/composer K.Doldinger decided to take a more easy-listening/muzak path... Cross Collateral (1974) was their masterpiece and artistic culmination , any videos of that period would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for this wonderful post.

  • if there is a video of the song "homunculuc" please let me know!

  • wowh... to relisten it after nearby 30 years gone still blows me away. So cool... Heavy guys all, groovy base, pushing drums, smoothy keybords with Hammond sound and flying away Sax. This clip let me feel old (28 years gone?? - Where ??), but the sound and melodies refresh heavily... Thank's PPFan, thank's Klaus & Compagnions.

  • Would you (or someone) happen to have a live performance of 'infinity machine'? Or where I could find it. Thanx!

  • Best Smooth Jazz group ever.I'm proud to have most of their albums.

  • I think they were the last great jazz/rock fusion band. Smooth jazz can be repetitive and tepid. Jazz/Rock was progressive and challenging i.e. Weather report,Return to Forever, Tony Williams, Mahavishnu. I'm a Black guy from Tennessee and I love Passport.

  • Amazing music and great band!!!

  • Brilliant! I saw them on this tour at the Roxy Theatre in LA. The end of an era.

  • A favorite of mine. 9 out of ten times i'm listening to jazz and of ten times that jazz is mainstream bop from the 50s and 60s.

when i'm looking for something a little different this is a regular choice. Nice groove going with atmospheric and textures found in progressive rock.

I like passport more than spyro gyra..

  • These Guys are great musicians, but unfortunately many people of my age(I'm 16) even here in germany don't know anything 'bout them...

  • Have seen Passport a few times including these guys, though being Passport fan for 35 years when Udo Lindenberg was still drumming for them.

  • I bought a couple of Passport cassettes back in the late '80s (Talkback) and had never seen them. So neat after 20 years to actually see them play. Thanks so much for posting,

    passportfan!

  • Doldi you are the greatest!!!

  • the Über music is that

  • I never saw Passport in concert, but after seeing this, I appreciate why Passport never had the street cred to be really big: Klaus just looked (and behaved) like hundreds of thousands of European businessmen of the time.

  • From the best album by second-phase Passport. After acquiring this in the glorious summer of 1978, I bought many Passport LPs trying to find some tracks as good as this. There are very few to match this ...

  • Excellent posting. Do you have anything from Looking Thru or Cross-collateral?

  • NO LIE....I just heard "soul Town" on OCEANS 13, and it was the best thing since PINK FLOYD. So I went on the internet and apparently this Klaus Doldinger guy is quite famous. LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY.

  • THAT FUCKING RIFT ROCKS!!!!!! I heard Klaus on Oceans 13.

  • Passport still worth!

  • Many thanks from a Passport fan for 30 years in Canada. Ataraxia (album named "Sky Blue" here) was my first exposure, and I have been hooked ever since.

  • I love!!

I've heard that they played in my city (Fortaleza-Brazil) in 78 and I wasn't born yet!!!

Do you have any video from Infinity Machine?

    Thanks a lot for sharing!!

  • the 70s was a GREAT time for jazz

i personaly think the "fusion" music "revolution" is much like when be bop happened:the excitment and fresh ideas..... .....i am glad to have had it revealed to me. the people who condem are missing some GREAT music

  • i guess my company in liking passport is like just germans and stuff wich is cool love passport

  • einzigartig

  • Habe Klaus Doldinger in Kiel gesehen, absolut Spitze!

ich will auch so ne Brille !

  • Meine Güte, ich habe eine Ganzkörpergänsehaut,

    viele Erinnerungen kommen wieder hoch.

    Was für eine schöne Musik.

    Thanks a lot, passportfan :-)

  • yessir!

  • @penta145 Habe Klaus Doldinger & Passport Ende Mai bei der Jazzrally in Düsseldorf gesehen. War ein echt geiles Konzert. Klaus Doldinger geht trotz seiner mittlerweile 71 Jahre immer noch gut ab.

  • Do you have a video of them playing Jadoo by any chance?

  • wow.. where did this come from? German TV broadcast?

If so is it torrented anywhere?

  • Eines der besten Stücke aller Zeiten!^^

  • THANKS MR. U-BOT !!!
