  • this is the stupidest video ever

  • Guys... Most of the time the pros take a guess at where the serve is going. Murray isn't picking a side, he's just going forwards hoping to get a backhand, which is evident from his hesitation to hit his forehand. Therefore he doesn't move around the ball and catches it too close to his body and is forced to push the ball over the net. Not a very good example of how good Murray's returns are...

  • Murray is the best reader of the game thats why he is one of the best returners......he is well inside the base line on alot of the serves.....

  • This is actually really quite nice. I always like to see players from this angle so you can see their decision making in the process. Murray is up in the air when the ball is still in the air to be served - cool to see that.

  • That's why I put it up! To see when he times the split-step.

  • WELLL you need to explain that in your description to the people like me who are are tennis lovers & not technical tennis experts! lol!

Can you upload more shots of him doing this? after I commented on this - today John McEnroe said that he's the best returner in the game but - looking at this I also wondered - how the heck does he know for sure where to land that early? He's up in the air be4 the shot's direction is determined in my untrained eye

I looked at this a few times here now

  • Unless he's absolutely reading the position of the opponents own midair body positioning.... whatever kudos to him on this vid b/c I'm not even a Murray fan in the slightest Enlighten...

  • OH nevermind - got it - he's keeping his eye on the diagonal directioning of the ball. Got it now ppl! LOL

  • the easiest way to tell where a serve is going is to look at the toss. on add side the ball would be a little behind them if they decided to go out wide or out in front if going up the T or into the body. because he read the toss he was able to prepare for the return early and get good positioning.

  • its a second serve so he knows it will be coming slowly
