  • derek man help me out! ok so my i can do my 3 beat reverse part of the waist wrap but when i cross over to the forward part i can only for some reason pull off a two beat so i end up going 3reverse to 2forwards so on so forth you got any tips cause i cant quite understand how to get my left poi under my right arm to throw the first forward rotation and then follow with the other two its messin with my head lol

  • Yeah I am comfortable with reverse BTB but not so much with Forward BTB

  • Ahhh I see. That just might be why you are have trouble with the waist wraps my friend. Be able to spin BTB both forwards, reverse, and being able to turn between the two is key in being able to do waist wraps. I hope that helps.

  • Derek, I have a question. I am able to do the straight jacket and I am just about able to do the full body crosser but I am still unable to do the 2 beat wraist wrap, I have watch your tutorail many times but still can't do it. Maybe a different approach I have not tried that you know of? Could help

  • Well. If you are trying to do the 2 beat, try to skip on to the 3 beat. Sometimes the 3 beat is easier for people because they are used to the motion on the 3 beat weave . So start out just going behind the back and slowly turning you body and keeping your poi in plane untill you are in the waist wrap postion. And if you can handle that the 2 beat should be easier. Does that help? Get back at me!

  • yeah, that totally helps. when i am doing it reverse behind the back and the transtion but then i get stuck up andget stopped. so maybe my hands are in the wrong postion, so thats why i stop myself, not quiet sure though

  • Thanks! Yeah, most of my lessons are one shot, I only re do them if i dont think i explained them well enough. Or if i wack my self in the sack.

  • Now there`s something i know about! As the times ive whacked my sack on the mind meltdown and the btb front weave.. the poi seem magnetised to my crown jewels ! Top tutorials..as youve helped me come a looong way this summer Derek!

  • this move is pretty difficult for me, i'm afraid my arms are to short, when trying to put the poi on the wall plane after i cross my arm behind my back it just smacks my knee and if i do succesfully pass it across its on the side planes more then the wall planes

  • There is alot of wack bang and thud when 1st tryin this move. Try 2 things to help you. 1st Reach one arm behind you as far as you can across your back, and grab that wrist with the other hand, and pull. This will help you gain flexibility. 2nd Try just doing a behind the back weave and turn from a forward to reverse continuously, and slowly try to minimize the turning by putting to poi on your wall plane.

  • yeah, ive been working on stretching moves since btb moves seem kinda difficult to me due to either my chubby stomach or my t-rex arms.

    but i'm going to add this into my stretching routine now.

  • Sounds good! Ever goto the Across the Street Bar? Alot of fire spinner go up there on Wednesdays. I've never been yet, but i plan on it when the weather gets a bit cooler.

  • hm.. isn't that just a btb 3bt weave? or... is it different because its in a wall plane.

  • And yeah. It is just a cross between the forward and reverse btb weave. You just wanna move you body and legs minimal. None if you can. And putting the poi on you wall planes as much as you can.
