  • Fuck Canada.......compliments of "Just_Bob on Justintv".

  • i trained a puppy once

  • I saw a video of BC Rail and CN in Oroville, California!

  • where can i get me one of them horns!

  • why does it the railroad crossing does not have arm that comes down

  • Hmm! ok! Well, that railroad crossing kinda sounds exactly lke d Associated Signals Electronic Bell!

  • Amazing horn! awesome echo! great shot! but why 4 ditch lights? /=| otherwise awesome video!!!

  • @SuperDuckman24 From what I've been told and taught, they used double/ 4 ditch lights to help brighten up the tracks ahead better, since most of its right-of-way has alot of curves.

  • @marklester01 now that's is cool! I never would thought of that! thnaks

  • Awesome horn action :DD

  • I hate Bells that are fake like that

  • @TJChagas me and my friends do it sometimes when we walk home from school. we get in between a hill and the train and it gets loud and windy

  • I find these videos strangely soothing. Thanks for them.

  • that horn is fucking loud...

Man i fear so much trains...

try to get really really close to a passing train, liked only 1 or 2 metters away from the rails...

    it is F*CKING SCARRY!!!!

everything shakes, your body shakes from inside, and that big fcking thing passing fast just so close to you and.. ah man, looks like u are gonna die...

    Try it!

  • @TJChagas your trying to get kids to die haha.

  • gotta love them horns

  • do they really need to blow the horn that often! It's the loudest thing I've ever heard!

  • Do you have an opinon on what is happening with BC Rail in the courts?

Click my name to have a say.

    BC Rail Poll

  • what is 2nd loco callaed

  • is this video where your "Double Ditch Productions" name comes from??

  • you must like BCRail... Not anymore then i like BNSF. =D

  • there is a reason there called DASH.9's lol

  • Great video and they was horn happy

  • Yes that's rich sound:)

here in Germany there is unfortunately not something like

  • nice video!!! i really like the area! very scenic!!

  • Awesome K5H!!!

  • А какого хрена такие высокие оценки этому "великолепному" видео!!!!

  • In the Uk our trains go beep beep, if they made a sound like your trains hardly anyone would be killed on the crossings

  • am I right that US (and possibly Canadian also) locos should horn 4 times before every crossing (scheme: long, long, short, long - this one till loco crosses the road) ?

  • Kokosiak1 they do that horn scheme here where in live, in Ontario, Canada.

  • okay thanks

  • You are correct!

    this I think is rule # 14 (K)

to be sounded at level crossings , whistle posts, or as prescribed by canadian Rail Operatimg Rules (CROR)

  • thx

  • GREAT sound!

  • Nice echo of the horn.

  • This looks like the eastern crossing by the North Vancouver yard

  • Since BC Rail was taken over, do you still see the old liveries or have they all been repainted now?

(I live in the UK and haven't been able to get over since the sale)

  • They are still there bud. Don't worry. Only 1 or 2 have been repainted I believe.

  • BIG HORN!!!

  • ????????????????

  • holy fuck those horns are loud...why aren't you deaf by now????

  • The K5H airchime, in my opinion, is the most attractive sounding horn. Is it true that is the required airchime config in Canada?

  • not everywhere. maybe in BC, but besides BC rail i never heard that awesome horn before. take my videos for example. listen to the horns

  • I recall there being a requirement (maybe an old requirement) that all horns on Canadian locomotives need a D minor chord - the K3L was sufficient, but the K5H was a much more pleasant sounding horn and not only met but exceeded those requirements. BC Rail ended up using and ordering K5H's for most of its locomotives.

I couldn't agree with you more, the K5H IS the most attractive sounding horn!

  • Nice video

  • thanks!

  • @ATributeToBCRail ya nice one ill subscribe =3

  • How big of a train did he have? He seems to be doing a pretty good speed up the hill.

  • I believe close to the standard size/length of a PGNV. The 3 Pemberton Pushers were tied in as well here.

  • Oh.

With 2 units and 28 cars we're usually down to 16-17 MPH when we hit that crossing.

  • oh wow really? the heavy down grade starts just before that curve doesn't it?

  • Roughly the Mile 117.9 is where the heavy grade starts. Get a run at it on the Gates flats, hit the hill at 30 MPH and be down to around 16-17 MPH by the time we hit Gates xing. As soon as you hit the rail lube on the other side of the xing you loose another 1 or 2 MPH.

  • Sorry, I meant the Hwy 99 xing.

  • I live near and work near the local IC mainline (bought by CN)and saw BC Rail 4646 as part of a local consist (included IC 3138 and a CN diesel whose number escapes me at the moment). Would have liked to have seen it as the lead diesel to hear it sound its horn. Pretty cool stuff!

  • Awesome! Hopefully you'll get a chance to 'live the BC Rail experience' sometime! :D

  • I get to see lots of BC Rail grain hoppers and flat cars in the mix of manifests that roll down the tracks. That BC Rail Dash 9 was the first engine I've seen apart from watching youtube videos of them.

  • Oh wow! Well hopefully a few more BCR units can find their way down where you are.

  • i just love dash9's

  • they get the job done while lookin good!

  • Thanks everyone! How can anyone not like that horn? :P

  • I love canadian K5H horns and double ditch lights! Great stuff.

  • Yeah I've already posted like 6 million comments, but I have to add yet again how much I freaking love D# Minor 6th. Yep.

  • Gotta love Canadian horns. I'm lucky I live near there: I hear that horn every day. Love it :3

  • Ah, greatest horn I've ever heard. I could fall asleep listening to that.

  • I liked the old crossbuck. Instead of Rail Road, it was Rail Way Crossing. Wonder how much it cost to replace them all?

  • Ya I remember those too. You can still find them attached to stop signs at crossings that don't have signals. I think BC Rail started replacing a few of them in the early 00's and then CN replaced more

  • Nice Video! I live out in Ontario so i only see the odd BC rail Loco in a CN train, wish i could see more tho...awesome sounds too, but im not too sure if i like the Digital bell at the crossing :\

  • haha thanks... we'll try to send a few more BCR units your way!

  • lol alright Thx :D

  • I love how the Canadien Crossbucks have the red outlining around the X. I think it makes it stand out.

  • ya very true

  • Ur so lucky u guys get the good ass horns and we have the old stuff

  • really? what kind of old stuff?

  • The common K5LAs and Leslie Horns. U guys have "Fancy" Horns

  • haha well Canadian locomotives for the most part just have K3L/K3H's, K5H/K5L's and

K5LA's. You guys can still lay claim to 'variety'

  • Actually, they have the same horns we do - they just use different individual bells to achieve the Canadian D# Minor chord (as opposed to the American D# Major 6th a la the K5LA)

  • couldn't have explained it any better!

  • love the horn and the scenery

  • me too me too!

  • relaxing bell

  • Nice Dash 9!

  • I have never seen a loco that had a double ditch light like that.

  • Thanks guys! Ya, that is a great spot, it used to have just crossbucks but they upgraded the crossing a while back.

And yes, the scenery is indeed from "Beautiful British Columbia", come check us out some time! :P

Most of my videos (2002-today) were from a Sony Digital8 Handycam, DCR-TRV350, w/ 700x digital zoom and 20x optical zoom. I also used an adjustable polarizing filter for many of my shots. For shots 2002 and earlier, I used a rented VHS or Hi8 camcorder.

  • The scenery is beautiful!!..Thanks for posting this...What kind of video camera is that??

  • Cool!

  • I like it !!!

  • I loved this spot when I was younger!
