Fuck it. I am short 5'9" 325lb I would love to see how many G's I could pull. I would love to ride that thing until I pass out. It would be awesome!!!
We are talking about G, not weight or center of gravity. if your 100 Lbs and you pull 9 G's your gonna feel 900 Lbs, if your 300 Lbs and you pull 9 G's your gonna feel 2700 Lbs, so being overweight is only going to increase the pressure.
.
Being short would actually focus the force on a smaller area so the pressure per inch would be greater. so being short and fat is quite a disadvantage here, instead of playing the violin you would probably be crushed to death.
@hondacrazy123 There are a series of lights in the centrifuge for him to stare at while moving faster. One common problem with pulling g's is tunnel vision. As you begin to pull more g's you start to lose peripheral vision, like you are looking down a dark tunnel. His vision dropped all the way down to where he could see nothing around him except for a red light right in the middle. But he regained his vision quickly thereafter. Overall this kid did very well.
@hondacrazy123 Testing/training him by seeing how many G's he can pull. Also the reason for the coloured lights and asking if they appear dim (correct if Im wrong)..is because while pulling excess g's, blood drains from the head, in this case blood moves from the eyes thus loosing coloured vision, what happens next is that yes as Uviuar said, you lose peripheral vision (tunnel vision) until you lose complete vision "blackout" while still being conscious, and if you hold the g's longer you G-loc
How much time are these student pilots given to acclimate them to high-Gs? Is it throughout their primary flight training period or until they're determined to be fit for hi-Gs? I knew a LTjg in the navy who went on to serve in the surface navy when just couldn't get used to flying while training... kept barfing in his mask...lol. Poor thing. Thanks for the post.
i had centrifuge training on the very start of the fighter training, first they wanted to see if i could handle 6g's. i did, so i passed the test, then began the theory training, during that we had phycical training, and centrifuge twice a week. for 2 months. simulation training, flight training started after the theory part, that lasted 10 months, and so on.
@alip2310 by being short :D. but on a serious note: you need to be in a good health. you can't have repaired sighting (you can't have glasses) and you can't have any spinal deseases or defects. no skeletal defects. but all in all i'f youre a healthy person you have a chance of being a pilot. but as i sad, you need a good physical health!
@alip2310 so you're long sighted? they shouldn't be a problem so long as you don't need to use them during flight. imagine aprox a kilo of weight resting on your nose while suffering 9g. not nice :D
@tohtorigyro awsome. my glasses are to 'help' with reading. gr8. but u know how u said it would be like having a kilo on ur nose. would u feel the g suit. how does that help. wouldnt u feel more heavy? just out of intrest.
@tohtorigyro awesome. my glasses are to 'help' with reading. gr8. but u know how u said it would be like having a kilo on Ur nose. would u feel the g suit. how does that help. wouldn't u feel more heavy? just out of interest.
@TrueCourse This is all about training to become acclimated to high Gs. That's why they have centrifuges. Very very few people can actually handle more than 5 Gs without training.
@DjBoose Thanks but I already know that. I was just wondering how many tries are student pilots given and what is the minimum G threshold to pass for their respective pipeline. Standards may also differ with the different branches of service.

DizzyDior centrifuge is a spinning crane-like structure. when the centrifuge is spinnin the person sitting in the tip of the crane the crane's car part moves horizontally so it's the same as sittin on flat ground but more g's, g force is the force that pulls you to the ground, 9 g means the gravity is nine times larger, meanin that if you weight 90kg you weight 810kg during 9 g's. so the point of a centrifuge is to make the pilots used to the strain and to train them to handle the massive strain
i can do 4-4.5 ok, clenching big time, but never tried higher than that... don't think I'd make it, to be honest :p at least not without being a bit ill... and in a centrifuge, too!! weugh!
damn..im tall and skinny 6' and 125 lbs (im 16) i would get owned...

what are they testing for??? to see if he can breath under pressure?
hondacrazy123 1 year ago
@hondacrazy123
if he can keep his blood up in his brain. You breathe tthat way to help keep the pressure inside your body up.

@MetalJaXtA666 thank you for that i understand now, and i take it that g-loc is when you pass out?

@hondacrazy123 Haha no worries, and yes, G-loc is when you pass out (Gravity induced Loss of Consciousness) =]

wow!! very well done! i wish i could be a fighter pilot, i wonder how many g's can i take...probably 3 xD or something like that.
some ppl say that a shorter person would resist more Gs than a tall person...if thats true then i'd be a great pilot xDDD [cuz im really short xD]

it's the distance from your heart and head as well as how ell your muscles can contract to keep the blood in the upper body

The taller and skinnier you are the more prone to GLOC you are. I guess tallness isn't everything.
