i have a feeling like most big review sites underrated this.. i haven't played it but it always looked better than they'd give it credit for.. they seem to review on a seniority scale, like the first game in a series will get say, a 6, while its sequel will get an 8.. almost every time.. so with this being the first game in its series it may have been screwed review-wise

This is my favorite game of 2010. I look back at all the games I bought last year and this was the most memorable, most enjoyable and the game that kept me wanting to play more. That's saying a lot being a hardcore AC fan. Definitely a game that failed in sales due to poor marketing.

You know the characters are basedon a chinese tale. You know monkey=monkey monster that fat guy was a pig demon, that head band was to keep the monkey monster underconrtol because he was so powerful he'll kill everyone if he gets loose. Tripitaka was supposed to be a male though. I don't know about the other man yet can remember him.

Monkey= Monkey King/Sun Wu Kong who uses a magic staff and flies on a cloud, Trip=Xuanzang who I think is a man in the original story idk and the pig guy I forget his name.Anyway there are SOOOO many different versions of this story,The most notable I think is Dragon Ball,but I know there's was another game on ps2 with the same characters and I think there was a movie with Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Ya know the one where Jackie has dreads hahaha

The graphical problem is because of the Unreal Engine. Same happens in gow, batman arkham asylum. Notice that all of those games use unreal engine as a grafical engine. Or borderlands. The problem is not new so I don't think that those is the most negative part. Gd review.

The gameplay wasn't there for me.

The platforming was almost like an interactive movie. It was impossible to mess up and jump to the wrong place. Instead you just pressed the joystick in vaguely the right direction and your character would jump to the next section.

You had more control over the combat but the controls weren't that good. The evade facility was pretty much useless and you end up button bashing

Plus the robots looked too cartoony. They make C3PO look like the fucking Terminator.

@DrunkenPoetic they make it like this to keep the game simple and keep the players happy instead of frustated. How often do u play a platformer u fall off and u have to go aaaaaall the way back? I found the evade very useful if u bought the evade counter attack. I loved the game as well as the story telling. The way the characters reacted to situations was the best ive seen so far to being the closest to an actual humans reactions. Basic gameplay sexy combat mechanics and amazing story telling

Er, Fallout's setting is after a nuclear apocalypse, so it's pretty obvious why there is no nature present.

I got Lords of Shadow over Enslaved. The game seems like a good rent or buy after a price drop or two since it's only a 8-10 hr experience with little replayability.

I think YOU need to be acquainted with nuclear fallout, after that long the earth WOULD take back what was destroyed, look at Chernobyl, just 24 yrs ago largest nuclear meltdown in history, today its lush with animal and plant life, the RAD levels are low enough to walk around unsuited, grass has overgrown alot of that area, and again that was 24 years ago.

I didnt notice as much texture popins on the cutscenes as you did it might have just been your machine slowing down a bit if your system has been on for a while itr could be suffering from some memory leakage wich would cause the texture problems but i havent seen any in the cutscenes and barely any in the actual gameplay

Excellent review. I just finished the game myself and my impressions were more or less the same. I found the camera to be very problematic during the more hectic fights, since it would zoom in and leave some enemies out of sights, which leads to cheap hits and the occasional death. Otherwise, great game!

I really didnt like the 360 version of this game the frame rate was horrible everytime there was alot of action involved it looked like the 360 could bearly handle it and it had alot of stutter in the picture while the ps3 version ran perfectly and really smooth.The game really is amazing I love it.

Your review is spot on to my experience with it. But i didn´t notice the slowdowns you metioned.

I plan on playing it through for a 2nd time because it was just fun and a great adventure story.

What did you think of the ending? I thought it was great and interesting. I also didn´t realise it till the end who the actor from all the foto flashbacks was. Great performance from him (he voiced monkey too).

Too bad this game isn´t selling well over here (germany).

It depends on how the world ends, what apocalyptic scenario occurs to be exact. If it was a nuclear holocaust, then yeah it would probably end up like Fallout, on the other hand, if it was something along the lines of a regular ground war then it would end up like this because the plants and trees would be able to grow. Like I said before though, it depends.

As for if nature would take over, it all depends on what happened exactly. If it was just a war with a lot of combat then yes nature would take over. BUT, if it was a nuclear bomb, it would most likely wipe out all the grass and trees (depending on the type of bomb).

I finished the PS3 version and twice I had to restart a chapter because Trip either disappeared from the screen or she would not follow me and stood still as if she is frozen ... that really annoyed me. But overall the game was good with exception of a very poor or anti-climatic ending... Did you find that as well?

But what you were saying about the post-apocalyptic enviroments, the huge difference between Enslaved and Fallout is that Fallout is a nuclear devastated wasteland, and the radiation and so would pretty much render the enviroment dead, so there's naturally a huge difference between Enslaveds enviroment and Fallouts

dude you would think it would perform the best on ps3 right but it has a pretty bad performance to be perfectly honest. The texture stuff is really annoying your looking at something for like 5 seconds then itll finally pop in . and it does alot of short freezing segments throughout the game. plus there are alot of glitches. but its a pretty good game overall though but i started to loose interest towards the end of it

Fallout is amazing because it's got deep society and interesting quest design that isn't just get to the next checkpoint or grinding. I'll rent enslaved soon but I can guess already that it only has a handful of characters, the level design is extremely linear just get to the end of the path killing enemies and the gameplay itself looks extremely simplistic and dull. The level design reminds me sometimes of FFXIII - I really don't like the nonsensical broken down rusted mechanical style.
