  • I'm not making excuses for Jason, but his condition is easy to understand. He loves the deer, because they are real.

He delights in the vandalism because there are no visible consequences. He can't see anyone really suffering.

Only when he later sees the tears of the teacher, does suffering become real to him. Once exposed to the reality of someone's suffering, he develops a conscience, but by then it is too late.

And ofcourse a horrible backlash awaits him.

  • I randomly thought about this film and looked it up. They made me watch it in 2nd grade. I think its really fucked up that they made us watch this. The part when the deer were dying made me sick...it still haunts me today

  • omg I had to watch this in 4th grade in 2000!! lol. Not as bad as the one they showed just us girls, in which the girl gets her period at the slumber party and the friend's mom and dad laugh it off and make a pancake uterus

  • @narsattacks You have got to tell me the title of that one!

  • @sparkles13 haha it was called "I Got It"

  • OMG, this is awesome. This movie made me feel awful when I saw it in school. I can't believe I found it, thanks for posting.

  • I saw this on Irish TV as a lad.I think it was part of a series of Canadian films on the topic of young kids going off the rails.

  • OK so im a senior in high school and im in psychology and sociology this year and both are semester classes with the same teacher and so far i have watched this movie about 3 or 4 times because my class is in 'love' with it. because they like to laugh at it

  • @Katdemon113 LOL...right on. It's a definite cult classic. It's like LSD: never leaves your brain.

  • @Katdemon113 No offense, but I don't see how anyone could really laugh at this film. It's about a boy who thinks vandalism is funny until he sees the reality of the suffering it causes, And by the time he has a change of heart when he sees how much he has hurt his teacher, and develops a conscience, it's too late. And his deeds come back to haunt him. I feel I have a good sense of humor, and I see nothing funny about this.

  • HOLY SHIT I can't believe I found this on here. I had to watch this in 9th grade, although the teacher never really explained why we had to watch it. I always thought it was about not falling in with a bad crowd. In any case, about halfway through the movie I started laughing so hard (because it's so bad) that I started crying. Hysterically. I almost passed out when the deer die at the end.

So let's try and recreate that event right now! Thanks for the upload!

  • I watched this back in 3rd or 4th grade in the early 1990's. We had VHS back then for cryin' out loud!

  • wow 1975 my 6th grade class had to watch this in 2000. How goddamn behind the times were we.

  • My Gosh, I didn't think anyone else remembered this movie. Thank you so much for sharing it!

  • You bet!

  • I remember watching this in Mrs. Baldwins 4th grade class at Wayne Elementary in Wayne, IL. I still think about it, and not much made any impact on my life now. This movie stuck in my mind, even now at 30 years old. Thank you for sharing!

  • It is a memorable movie. I think it just made most kids feel awkward and that's why.

  • Haven't seen this film in over thirty years and remember the teacher discussing this with the class.

  • I remember watching this movie while in elemenatary school almost thirty years ago. We also had a speaker at our school that discussed the consequences of vandalism. What I remember most about that film was the teacher's reaction when he discovered his treasured book in ruins. Thanks for posting this movie.

  • I remember this cautionary tale distinctly when my 6th grade class watched the film in 1982.

  • That's around the time I saw it. '80 or '81. I still remember all the smart-ass comments we made while watching it even though we thought it was a good movie.

  • Oh, it's a very good movie and it made a huge impression on me obviously, which is why I remember it in such vivid detail 26+ years later. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing it here.

  • im in grade 8 now, but im on my moms' channel

  • That looked like fun they seemed to be enjoying themselves!

  • Aww, I thought this was going to be an educational video teaching the dangers of beasteality. Good vid anyway.
