@Dunixify No, probably not. A torch costs about $10. includes everything you seen me use. If you cant get one, just leave it alone. You'll only make it worse.
@uarujoey Awesome! I, like many other people, love your videos. I am itching to make a tank of my own. Although, I do have a bunch of crazy projects planned out. I hope my small apartment can handle this.
@westrsk No, you'll just melt them. I have found the only way to remove panels from a sump is to either cut them out, or smash them out with a hammer. Either way, you risk damaging the sump.
Nice method!...... Just wanted to find out where you got your little syringe to transfer the cement over to the applicator bottle? (saw it on another video of yours)
@uarujoey Hey Joey.... actually I was talking about he little syringe you use to transfer the cement over to the bottles... I have been using the applicator bottles for many years, I just never used that little syringe...
@80smix I agree. Crazing will happen if i put glue on it again. However, this is just for spills. It does not weaken the acrylic. Heating acrylic is the same as welding acrylic. Both soften it, but they harden back up. Flame polishing does the same thing, uses heat. But again, this only causes issues when trying to cement that area again. it does not weaken the piece.
I don't have a blowtorch... you think a lighter or maybe even a stove gets hot enough?

Is there nay way you could buff it out to completely remove the appearance of the blemish? Like gradually progress to a high grit sandpaper?

@farrelBatz yes, you could do that as well.

not a very good idea you have now caused stress on the acrylic by using heat!
try putting glue on it now - it will craze like hell

Vid does show it looking like a water stain. Just used a normal propane gas torch?
MrBrookerj 2 years ago
Yes, just a regular propane gas torch...
