My original LCD bricked like few days ago because I made a mistake while I was assembling my iPhone 3GS and I didn't know that it went ON so when I attached my LCD to motherboard while phone was ON... from now on I can only see a white screen (not even Apple logo). Everything else (like vibration and sounds) seems to work normally but I don't know which LCD I should buy. And will the new LCD have any difference.

I'm unable to loosen the screws on the sides of the lcd mounting bracket, and it looks as if I'm starting to strip them. It appears apple uses some sort of adhesive around the screws. How do you loosen that stuff up?

I had the same problem but used WD40 on a cotton bud to smear a little of it on the base of the screws as well as each head. Leave overnight to soak in. If you've worn the head of the screws a bit trying to remove them also use a screwdriver that's just slightly larger than before. Press down really firmly getting someone else to hold the phone steady. And hey presto!

I used this tutorial and replaced my iPhone 3GS LCD screen as there was no backlight. Everything went perfectly well after replacement and backlight works fine now but the touch screen isn't responding. It won't register any of my touches when I tried to unlock the phone. But it did register when I powered it off for the slider on the top half. So top half seems to be responding but the bottom isn't. What should I do to fix this problem?

Cable 2 is loose.

Just get some paper, about 1mm thick and put it on top of cables 1 and 2, then put the phone back together. This will hold the cables in place after you close it all up.

Is your connector 1 well connected ? Check if it's in place, close carefully and reboot holding Sleep-wake and home button until the apple appears.

Be patient ! It might need 2 or 3 reboots that you don't see.

@p3ters00 I had the same problem. i ended up having to use my 18volt cordless drill with a phillips regular size bit and just used firm pressure for a like 30 seconds until it finally came loose. just wasn't able to reuse the screw... hope this helps you. iphone 3gs works great now!!!!

Be sure to put the connector straight up.

Mine wasn't precisely in place, and it's stiff : it disconnected while closing, and then I lit the phone for test !!

--- I had grey screen, and after reconnection it needed a couple of hard-reboots... now it's fine.

Next time I'll make it better :)

This guy has cost me an iPhone! Thanks to his incorrect information that the iPhone 3G and 3GS screens are the same I ended up trying to fit a 3G screen in a 3GS and wore out the connection, causing my backlight to fail completely, no matter what LCD i tried. Also, there are certain tips he doesn't mention of how to remove it safely. Honestly, you're better off spending a little extra and getting it repaired professionally! The cost for me to sort has become too much!

I have a 3gs bought a new assembly LCD) installed it,,, when it turned on the screen its dark , if i turn the brightness down to half or below the screen (turns on) its usable but the screen goes dark if i turn up the brightness past half way could it be the LCD or the Coil.... if it was a coil wouldnt the screen be dark all the time anyone have any idea's

2. Be gentle with the wire removal and replacement.

3. If trouble removing screws, use flathead screwdriver first, then phillips

4. Take your time

Either your digitizer is damaged or its not connected properly. Don't worry though, a new one isn't very expensive. I don't know which of the three connectors go to the digitizer.
