It IS available with a V8. Or let's say THE V8 as the only difference between them is almost nothing. The Touareg is however also available with a W12 with 450hp and 600nm torque (compared to the Audi/VW V8 350hp 440nm). Personal i like the diesel more so i prefer the Touareg V10 TDI with 313 hp and 750 nm torque.

And for the record i have actually driven these cars with these engines so i'm not talking in theory.

The fitting and quality on our Q7 is definitely better than the Touareg. The paint on the buttons and the buttons started to jam on the Touareg after 3 years. But either way, German cars are still the best.

If I was given $60k to spend on either one, I'd go with the VW TDI version. That would have just about every option, and not look like a bloated whale. Both, plus the Porsche Cayenne are all built in the same factory in Bratislavia. I had an 04 with the VR6, and the only complaint I ever had with it was the cost of brake parts.

Q7 is OffRoad Killer? -Never.....Sorry but just look at the wheelbase of the Q7 and the Touareg. Touareg has the same base like the Porsche Cayenne. The ramp angle is much better like the one from the Q7.

In heavy terrain the Q7 won´t have any chance against the Touareg and the Cayenne.

By the way, the hydropneumatic suspension of the Q7 goes not as high as the one from the VW Touareg or Porsche Cayenne
