Now I'm going to be waiting and watching out for those guys. Someone even told me that they're even bringing back some combiners from g1. The only thing that would make me go over the roof, is if they (hasbro) were to bring back the headmasters (any would work).

@darfjono I guess realistically it hasn't been thaaat long since say the last Classics or Animated but of course time moves differently in this crazy collecting world. The tons of movie stuff is of course just a supply/demand sort of thing, they have to go after whatever makes sense for the current market. Stores like Wal Mart and Target still clamor for more movie stuff, and it's popular across the board. That makes announcements like all this G1 stuff feel even better, really.

@Trebleshot I wouldn't give them all the credit there. Pre-movie the toylines had plenty of homages to the old stuff, even the the first "Classics" line was pre-movie. Takara and Hasbro's initial G1 reissue toys came before. Dreamwave comics had already come and gone and IDW comics were well under way. The first modern re-release of the G1 cartoon on DVD (Rhino release) was definitely pre-movie as well.

@kinglaffo Sure, Hasbro's done G1 nods and homages for years (since BW, really), and they've been slowly working to increase exposure to the brand. But I was referring to the profits that the movies and toy lines have made for Hasbro and what Hasbro did with the money.

@Trebleshot I forgot mentioning how full of fan-nods Animated was and it's production began before the movies came out.

All of that makes it seem like the guys at Hasbro have never forgotten the fans, but the surprise of new "Classics"-style toys now is after things like Transformers Prime Bumblbee looking like the movie one, stores clamoring for movie-toy exclusives, the yellow box line being movie stuff, you name it, they still haven't focused solely on that and forgotten the older stuff.

@kinglaffo Oh, I know they've been really good to us old school fans whenever they could. It's just that the movie's success has allowed them to go even further, push harder and actually make the retailers go "Hey, so you mean non-Movie TFs will sell too? Yes, please!"

@Trebleshot It is more impressive than ever since they could easily slip into an all-movie era. For a moment after the WFC Bumblebee bio referencing the movie, the "Prime" stuff being at least somewhat movie-based, Animated's toys being delayed half a year because of the first movie toy line, the designs in the new IDW comic, etc, I was worried that might happen, but I'm happy to see it's not the case. I do want them to grow but not abandon, which seems to be what we're getting, so I'm happy.

@cksuperdude Trailbreaker is just speculation, it's not confirmed. They only said they haven't forgotten him when someone noted that the Reflector looked like Trailbreaker. They're really close to having all the 84 Autobots updated in modern lines so I'm thinking they'll push through and complete them, at some point.

This is the best time to be a G1 fan anyway. Other TF universes are nice in their own right, but G1 is the best and will always be the best, despite how inconsistent the cartoon was.
