I've seen Quo live 60+ times over the years and I was at this gig as well and this song always brought the mood down for me..it just didn't sit well in the set at the time..still don't like it..i thought the inclusion of this was to give Lancaster some spotlight time...Awful track from an awful album.
we all love Quo but no one can deny that the original line up were the best. Personal differences apart, each new the other. The frantic four brought rock n roll to everybody. I had the pleasure to see rossi parfitt lancaster coghlan with thousands of other fans, cheering, boogieing with ages from babes to grandparents, rockers and skinheads. After the gig the beaming smiles and excited plaudits said everything, the original Quo were peerless and breathtakingly brilliant
Hi all,i`m 51 and try to see the boys at least once a year and i reckon i`ll probably drop before they do!! My favourite album remains to be Dog of Two Head but maybe that coincides with my first live experience @ would you believe the Swan Hotel Mansfield in 1972,i`m not sure even if its still there! I also like Heavy Traffic so i reckon that there`s merit in most things these guys do! Best live band bar none so our US friends should get there arse over and see bfore its too late!!!
@duncan31358 Is that the white-coloured pub opposite the market? If so I think it is - my mate Ash Bradley is a Mansfield Town fan so will ask him next time I see him.
???Before Quo switched to a rougher and harder sound (somewhere in the late 60's/ early 70's) they played a bit more bluesy stuff. Listen to Whatever you want and Just Supposin'albums (both way after '75 and then come again...ROCK!!!! (or what???).....
I think Alan Lancaster was the real sound in the old quo. Today status quo still survives on most off the old songs. But shit happends and i still like there gigs! Going mad with some beers.
Hey gofastnr1. Yes, Lancaster has (co-)written a handfull of Quo classics (and , surprise surprise, not only the hard rocking things though many of the Lancaster fans always want us to believe ...) but most of the old songs have been written by Rossi and Parfitt. Go easy on the beers and keep enjoying the Quo!!! Rock on!!!
Thanks,Gilbertwest,i didn´t know,i thought it was one of Alans own.He always seemed to write the songs which had a little more ¨kick¨.Also, sorry to photossmile, didn´t realise you were from the States, not many people from there know about the Quo.They have been going in the U.K.for 40 years, and are in the Guiness book of Records for several feats. They are an underrated band, they are true to thier fans, all about FUN,and not faddy fashion. They will, quite literally, rock till they drop.
Sorry photossmile,i wasńt being nasty,it just sounded like you never heard of Status Quo.Over The Edge is not a cover,it was written by Alan Lancaster in 1980,and comes from the Just Supposin´album.
I can see your from the states so im not suprised you dont know who Quo are. They sadly never made it there. but they are one Britians longest running bands There biggest hit Is Rockin All Over The World by John Fogerty Im guessing youve herd of him ;)
yes i am from the states. yes i have heard of john fogerty. i liked him with ccr. good music. i see that you really like this band and i can see why. thanks for posting

This comment has received too many negative votes show
quo 4 ever.
but the new quo (since '75) is very bad and plays only blues and not the old rock.
