  • GREAT VIDEO!!!! GREAT COLORS!!!! i have 2 of these bad boys......and i must say you just took me back to skool.

    end of line.

  • SUPER helpful! Thanks! Great to see a normal shot then the wide angle!

  • @mrmcfly26 Glad it helped!

  • do u need special tapes or regular sony preiums to capture hd footage?

  • You can't capture HD on the DVX, it's SD only.

    I "upressed" to 720 when I compressed.

  • i see

  • colors look so warm!

  • Thanks, I was going for a warm look.

I used a combination of a warm white balance scene file in the DVX plus some warming in Magic Bullet. Be sure you check out your scene file possibilities on the DVX.

  • If you're looking for a color effect, it's better to do it in post. Do you have any Color Correction in your editor?

Plus, if you use a filter, then don't like it, you're stuck.

More common lens filters would be Clear or UV/Haze (for protecting the glass), Polarizer for reducing reflections and getting darker skies, or Neutral Density (ND) to cut down the amount of light going to the camera.

Yes, matte boxes are not cheap.

  • What filters can you fit on the front of the wide angle adaptor?

  • I believe the Century has a 95mm threaded front.

Unfortunately, my Century has a small dent in the thread, so I can't put any filters on it.

But I can't say I've heard of anybody else putting filters on the front.

Not saying it can't be done, just that I haven't heard of it.

But I guess you could use a clear or UV/Haze, polarizer or other filters.

I think people are more likely to use a matte box with filters. But maybe you can look into it further, and let me know?

  • @VisualSOLUTIONSMedia Yeah, I would invest in a matte box if they wern't so pricey. I'm thinking of getting a filter to add slight coloured overlays like an Cokin 82A filter for blue tints. Not sure how useful these are if you have any experience?

  • How would one go about using the wide angle adapter AND using a hood, since they both occupy the same attachment (bayonette)

  • You can't use both. You also have to take off the UV/Haze filter if you have one on the camera lens. But it takes about 5 seconds to put the .7 on.

  • really helpful video, thanks

  • Shot in Squeeze.

I did color grading with Magic Bullet looks (that's where the nice colors come from).

Edited in Avid Media Composer. Hope this helps.

  • yeah they are amazing.

  • Looks very nice, just wondering was this shot in 16:9 Squeeze mode? And how'd you get the colors (or a better question what editing software do you use to get it?)

  • i have a question that might sound pretty dumb... but im planning on getting a dvx100a ... would it work with this lens?? and do u reccomend the b over the a... thanks in advance..

  • The only dumb question is the unasked one!

Both the 100A and 100B have a 72mm lens, which the Century attaches to, so it works for both.

The 100B has many upgrades over the 100A, including a cleaner image. So yes, if your budget allows it, I'd go for the 100B.

For all kinds of DVX related questions, I highly recommend DVXuser (dot) com.

Good luck and thanks for watching!

  • Vignette is part of Magic Bullet grading.

  • Nevertheless, there is very much fignetting tho'!!!

  • Thanks, and thanks for watching.

It's not as wide as a fisheye, but it's a nice lens, and you can zoom in if you want /need to. Enjoy it!

  • i am stunned by the video qaulity. its amazing. i just ordered mine and i cant wait for it
