  • Thank you...sadly, this isn't over yet- just another service connected disabled US combat Veteran

  • Very diplomatic of Gorka to call these "good intentions." The "road of ulterior motives" might be more on the mark, but nice of John to give them the benefit of the doubt.

  • The occupation of Iraq must cease.

  • Powerful.

  • Good job... Very good job.

  • That must be Nanci Griffith singing harmony. ANybody sent this to MoveOn dot org?

  • Literally makes me cry that nobody stood up to this war when we had a chance.

  • I remember that plenty of americans objected to this crime. it makes this song deeper, without a bottom...............

  • Perfection!

  • We get immune to the idea of the humanity involved and focus on the abstract concepts of war and the politics of it all. This Gorka song and your amazing photo story go right to the heart and remind us of the reality of war. I am absolutely sure that I was not the only one crying during this one. I particularly like the "forbidden" picture with the line about the bill arriving.

  • wonderful job. John is an amazing songwriter. your images captured the spitit of this heartwrenching song.

  • Very cool...Thanks much!

  • I just saw John play this live a couple weeks ago and it was fantastic.

  • Thanks to everyone who commented, favorited, rated, linked the video. I'm glad it had such an effect on people. The song and this war have had quite an effect on me. It seems there are two very, very sad stories being written....One is that of the soldiers whose lives and families are being torn apart. The other is that of the Iraqi citizens whose country is being torn apart.

On this sad anniversary, let's forget neither.

  • Moving and powerful art.

    Thank you, Carol.

  • Who sings this song? Wonderful and moving video.

  • Thanks rambam77. The singer/songwriter is John Gorka. He is wonderful.

  • Beautifully and tastefully done. I think John would love it.

  • Thank you smithfinn. I heard John sing this song live years ago before it was recorded or even quite finished, I believe. It's stayed with me ever since. It's really a beautifully sad song.

  • Good Intentions? Yeah Right!!

  • You really made a moving video. Thanks for sharing this.

  • Thank you Carol -- this video is important, I will share it with everyone I can here in Phoenix, AZ -- Richard in Phoenix

  • Mamie

Excellent. Sure hope this opens the minds of the War warriors and gets them to realize what war really is. Wake Up Patriots. Too many lives are being sacrificed.

  • Wonderful job! Well done! You should send the link to Gorka. You did his music proud.

  • So moving. Beautiful and tragic all at the same time. I've already started sharing this.

  • Thanks for putting the effort into this

  • Absolutely. This is beautiful.

  • All I can say is: Oh my!

Share this with as many people as you can. I will.

  • Carol, You've done an unbelievable job. Gripping, and poignant. Everyone needs to see this. Thank you.

  • Intentions, good or bad, are never enough to justify war where diplomacy has not been allowed to run its full course. Thanks to Carol and Wes Clark for helping VoteVets to prevent the next war on Bush's list.

  • Beautifully done, Carol. So very sad. This is why we just can't get taken into yet another war.

  • Heart wrenching. This needs to get a wide audience. Thank you for making this - drinking my morning coffee with tears running down my cheeks.

  • This is excellent, Carol. Nice work.
