Actually, it is not consumer demand that is pushing to hunt humpbacks again...Japan is the #1 country lobbying for expanding whale hunting and japanese ppl don't even show much interest in whale meat. It is a few govt nationalist who claim that hunting various whales is an ancient practice and that Japan deserves to hunt whatever it wants. They are using whale meat to feed school children to get them into eating whales again.
