Tom writes some beauty "anthem" tunes..they sound like tributes to guys marching home from war, or Stanley Cup winners, but the songs are really about women stuck in relationships with guys who refuse to grow up.
If this song wasn't played yesterday on the last day of the winter Olympics in Vancouver after the men's hockey gold medal win then it should have been! :)
This is the sound of my childhood growing up on logging roads and lease road with my dad. I was lucky to have my Dad take me out to the bush with him. Tom Cochrane is still one of his favourite artisits still. And to this very day he gives strength to us both with all thats happened in the past 20 years. Its amazing where we were and where we are now.
@cletortain Can you believe it has been 20+ years? I spent the first 20 years of my life less than an hour from the border and grew up on this! When I talk about Tom with anyone south of Syracuse they're clueless. It's a damned shame.
This guy doesn't get half as much credit as he should. The rest of America needs to wake up and realize that Tom's talents go far beyond "Life is a Highway"
Realized that a couple years out of high-school....1986 to be exact. Life is a Highway came out long after that. If other people don't like what we like.....Oh well.. Tastes & differences are what makes us human. Some like to stay the "Pop" route...Their choice and loss.
they will play this the day all our frontline forces are home from afghanistan, guts and glory, both proven and earned, Valhalla awaits the fallen, VALOUR, INTEGRITY, TENACITY, and BALLS, in all our sons command
It's the same anthem-spirit as Remembrance Day, but not , I don't think, "a near cover". Great to hear Canadian boys writing "kick-ass" stuff like this!
I love this song - it's my anthem. I've seen Tom in concert at least ten times. The first song I heard was Avenue A - loved his stuff ever since I heard it when I was in high school (ok, maybe Jr high...) He seems like a real person.
Reminds me of riding with my dad hauling equipment

After Sid screamed IGGY and then did what Sid does does best...seconds later the chorus of this song should have thundered from the Vancouver arena!

I don't support war, in part because seeing our youth come back in body bags is the last thing I want.
