I was there from 69-72 (1st - 4th grade). I learned to swim at the pool that is now the location of the new TAS. I played Little League on the Mets in 70 and the cardinals in 71. The cardinal's coach was Sgt Morgan. I lived in local appartment which was located between two military housing. One Navy and the other army or CID Not sure. The friends I rememeber were Leslie Coleman, David York, Dallas Vessie (sp?). I was there during the flood of 71 and the round building was a library (I think)

Still get a wave of nostalgia when I look at this. Sounds like its practically all gone now. In 5th grade, 1974-1975, I had a goofy schedule and had lunch all by myself. Literally, all by myself. I was taking baritone with Mr/ Mrs. Demoulakis as music instructors, and would eat a hot dog and then sit out on the levy - shown nowadays on Googleearth as a fairly sophisticated typhoon protection structure but then I'm sure it was a convention earthen levy - and play the horn.
I was a freshman/sophomore at TAS between 1965-1967, so this looks just as I remember it (minus the construction, of course, and Senior Island looks seriously overgrown). I skipped taking the bus to school one morning (we lived in Happiness Village in Tien Mou) and walked through some rice paddies to get to class. It was wonderful going to school here -- we were a microcosm of the world. I was so sorry to leave when my dad was restationed. Thanks for posting this video!
very glad to see this as I am still a TAS alumni member: Class of '69. Those vids are so familiar to me. and seeing Sr. Island, brings back memories, but that looks to be sometime well after late 60's
From class of '75 I attended in 72-73. Definitely best school days...revisited in 2005 before old buildings were demolished. Glad to see they are preserving the HS horseshoe and the famous "RoundHouse".
My dad was stationed at Taipei Air Station 1973-1976. Best years of my life, and this was the best school I ever attended. All the teachers seemed to be hippies and missionaries. This is only a small portion of the school. I don't see the roundhouse (yum....noodles....), the library, Senior Island, or the bell? Oh, those were the days!
This is only a tiny portion of the campus. I've seen a high-altitude map of the place, and all that was left at the time it was taken was the Horse-shoe, the Round House, the Kodak Building and the Administration building. All the parts that I remember from grade-school are gone. I found Wellington Heights on the same map, and my house is no longer standing either. No great loss to aesthetics there - it was hideous, but still, there is nothing to revisit but an empty flat place on the mountain.
I FOUND IT! The "horseshoe" is still visible on google earth at 25.06.06.64N, 121.31.14.05E (sorry, couldn't type in the symbols for degrees, minutes, seconds). Those coordinates are right in the center and close to the old Senior Island location. FINALLY!! Thanks Flubberfriend for the tip on the British School - took some further googling to get this. I was at TAS for soph and junior yrs, 1967-1969).
Man...so many memories from this shot. Mr. Arnold's class, my typing class, French class, Kissing and getting in trouble, Orphanage Club, was there from 1975 to 1979.
Does anyone know the address/GPS for the old capus? I'd like to GoogleEarth it. I attended lower school 72-75; 3-5th grades. Lived next to the white building on side of Yangmingshan (Chinese Culture College). Would go down Tien Mu train from side of YMS to Tien Mu for Little League. Bamboo forests, snakes, brilliant!
Anyway, hoping to find the old homestead area (sure its gone now). Anyone ever hear of the Tien Mu Guest House?
I went to TAS '67-'69!

My mother used to go there. She has many black and white photos of those days. It was sad of what had happened. I now go to the newer one. :P
