1:06 if he attack to the knee, you use chan (coiling) power and hook the staff away ....the Chan contains a sliding of the staff towards his fingers

at the end of it, my staff is pointing at him so i can stab him at the chest

1:42 it's not hitting to the side, it's deflecting with the turn of the staff on it's axle

Here's a little translation of some of the things the teacher explains:

00:26 qi long shi (ride the dragon) the staff must turn and spin around it's axle while hitting downwards to deflect the attack

00:36 the staff slides to open to the side and than i step out of the attack line

00:52 when you do this move you must exit the line of attack and attack from an angle
