it's what we eat, what is marketed towards us and what we believe is beautiful (like others before me have said).
NO. all koreans do NOT have great skin. many use various regimens, products and procedures to keep their skin in tip top shape. i use toner, moisturizer/argan oil, exfoliator, shu uemura cleansing oil, sk ii facial cleanser, kate somerville exfolikate, and chanel sunscreen... the uv50 thing lol.
PLUS, as some others have pointed out, these are models NOT just some random girls.
there's a reason why she's a model. they're not going to pick someone who has bad skin problems all over her face for a makeup tutorial. Why go through all the work of concealing and hiding if they can save the effort and go straight to the eyes, which are the emphasis for most tutorials. So no, there are korean people who have bad skin too, just not the ones you're exposed to here which are makeup models.
@Ellie0Ellis meat is very much eaten here in korea. 한우 닭 삼겹살 many traditional korean foods are meat too and people enjoy it. Its just we dont eat much fastfood as americans (like hamburger and fried foods)
@tedious thats the trend in korea. You do makeup but it looks like you didnt do much makeup. People(men) dont like women with bunch of makeups on they think women with less makeup and flawless fair skin is beautiful..'natural makeup and flawless skin' might be the beauty concept in korea now..thats why even idols dont wear that much makeup and dont wear fake lashes:).
It's the genes, people! Asian girls(not all of them obviously, but the majority)tend to have even, beautifull skin and they don't usually have pimples. Now, that combined with the fact that they like to stay fair and avoid the sun, and also take a good care of their skin adds to that. But it's mostly genes. If i was a guy i would only date Asian girls,i think they are absolutely beautifull!I've been having an obssesion with Korea recently , becuase their movies are fantastic!I loved the tutorial!
She doesn't even look like she has blush on. I know that Koreans like to stay natural when it comes to make-up, but what's the point of putting it on if it's not going to show up?
Yes in korean tradition people take care of their skin very well from an early age, but I'd say the majority has to do with the diet. The type of foods korean people eat are so much healthier than the fried foods here in america.
@ParkJinna I think it's more to do with their life style. Koreans don't stay out in the sun a lot. When my cousin came to take some college courses, I thought she had a beautiful skin. After 6 months of California sunshine, (according to her mom) she was unrecognizable to her family. They thought her skin got so tanned and she got overweight.
The only reason Koreans have better skin in comparison to us westerners (when i say westerners i am including the Koreans that were born and/or RAISED in the western parts of the world) is because in Korea from birth they take care of skin. Sunscreen/staying away from the sun/skincare products are used BEFORE problems occur. where as in the west we like to tan, we rarely wear sunscreen & if we do its usually later in life when damage is already done, same w/ scars we try to cure we dont prevent.
@PinkMacaroon21 totally true. it's the same for africans in africa who have really beautiful bright white teeth. They don't eat things that stain their teeth and eat a healthy diet.
@MissJeriB yep :) every culture has a beauty advantage of some sort. Hence why in a melting pot western world we have so many issues with image cuz it's all mixed now haha we want something of everything!
Actually, Koreans don't all have good skin, pretty similar to American skin. They take care of their skin like CRAZY though; they drink lots of water and eat lots of things good for their body, not to mention have multiple skin products. They just don't show it, esp stars and models.
@amandooxface So TRUE!! I don't know about the men....I remember being a little girl & my mom put a BIG emphasis on taking care of my skin with diet & skincare products. It may be a culture thing??
Eyes: MAC Coquette, MAC Club + Plumage, MAC fluidline in Dipdown + Blacktrack, MAC Black Tied + Contrast, MAC technakohl liner in Going For Gold, Hard Candy quad in Sonic (1st shade), Shiseido eyelash curler, NARS larger than life volumizing mascara, Cathy Cat eyebrow pact
Lips: NARS pure matt lipstick in Madere, MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2, MAC Viva Gaga 2 Lipglass
@PIRD no, it's because they really take good careof their skin and body, i live with a korean girls and also i have a korean cousin, they don't east too much sugar, or salt, they put cream before the shower, when they wake up and whn they go to bed, they use masks and things, they have really good ones, they reall really take care, because they want, it's part of their culture, the moms and the grannies, even the guys take care of their skin, you know the body, health and thoser things (:
@MahoDinosaur I see what you mean. But i still believe that heredity plays a major part of their glowing and flawless skin. In every race, you can find girls with skin problems. But most of korean girls, that i've been noticing so far, have flawless and also glowing skin. And I believe that girls in every race mostly take care of themselves like the way you mentioned. But when it comes to Korean,it's effortlessly easy for them to take care of their skin because of,in my opinion, their good genes.
@PIRD LOL, as much as we'd like to think so Korean people are human beings, and not EVERYONE has perfect skin. There are korean people who have skin problems like the rest of us...acne, discoloration, acne scars, etc.
@imbotada There is a study that proves Asians have more collagen in their skin than the other races. I guess you could say great skin among Asian poulations is hereditary.
@imbotada wash and moisturize your face every morning and night. then learn about your skin type. asia has a 4-6 step skincare routine for every morning and night (toners, different serums, acne, anti-aging, eye cream, mask etc.) find what routine and products work for you whether they're north american, european, or asian. but just make sure you follow through your daily routine and wear sunscreen every day you go out.
@bubbles02010 some korean skincare lines are laneige and IPKN new york. fuzkittie on youtube reviews a lot of good skincare and make up from asia or europe/america. and she has amazing skin
@imbotada actually its part of their diet since they were born. Koreans have a healthy diet, with hardly any meat due to it being so expensive over there. but then again not all koreans have perfect skin :3 i heard clay masks were really good, so you could try that
Thanks to the kind ladies that translate products used!
