  • I ATE A BABY WITH BRANDON CHUNG

  • i wish this was a better recording... that guitar lead is the sweetest sound

  • GREAT story.

And the Gibson guitar he is playing is a mid-1950's Les Paul, those big P-90 pickups sound great in that instrument with a silvery shimmering bite. Of course a lot of it is Danny but that instrument sure sounds great.

  • Absolutely Beautiful!!

  • How this guy CONSTRUCTS A SONG, hes a sweet beast

  • Thanks, Mr. Flatwound, for posting this. Didn´know that Buddy Miller and Daniel Lanois ever played together in a band. Really great! What are you doing now?

  • Saw Emmylou Harris perform this at a free show at Battery Park just before 9/11.

  • Unbelievable. This song is one of the best I have heard. As for the video, watch how in sync all the players are with their bodies.

  • Anyone know where and when this was filmed?

  • @boppy4 Totally..it looks like some legion in Gatineau Quebec lol or his high school reunion or somethn--sounds like they knew who they were watching though--I would have sold the proverbial crack to nuns to see that performance--F*#King awESOme!

  • which blade toured on the Dave Matthews and Friends tour of 2003?

  • This played on the end of Sling Blade, right? Creepy movie-awesome song.

  • @IvoreeRaven

Yes it was, I wouldn't say the movie was creepy. Dark, yes, but not creepy.

  • this song is so awesome u are such a talented guy and great performance.

  • One of my favorite songs. I appreciate Dave Matthews for introducing fans to Daniel Lanois and his wonderful song!!

  • 7 people have no taste.

  • it was great until brady blade came in.

  • best version = Jerry Garcia Band

  • @thinktm yea, I agree Dave Matthews did a great job

  • Nice Asian women *lushfmlk.info*

  • when the drummer starts playing i start groovin'

  • You can get this mp3 at instantmp3s..com

  • A fantastic performance of an even more fantastic song. It's just a shame that his voice isn't strong enough to sing it better.

  • Sounds really good. Daniel does make lovely sounds with his guitar. So, you are the bass player, well done !!!. Rare to have one of the musicians upload the performance, I am really glad you did. Thank you!.

  • i absolutely love the dave matthews band but i love lanois' versions better because they are so soulful and each version is completely different.

  • I have seen (via video) several versions of this song--DL with Willie and Emmylou, DL with Daryl Johnson and Emmylou, Dave Matthews--all excellent. But this is extraordinary. Thanks for posting.

  • get well soon my friend *_*

  • Daniel Lanois is also a great producer. See U2, Peter Gabriel, Bob Dylan, The Neville Brothers and many others.

  • That's both Blades?!!

    Awesome video man! Love it!!!

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU SAY Dave Matthews did an even BETTER JOB then the original!!!!!!! listen to his version, oh man its fuckin' amazingg

  • M3Coupe- dude you dont know shit, to say dave matthews sucks you dont know music... AT ALL, this is complete JUNK compared to Dave Matthews!!!!

  • @DmB4LiFe420eL you're an idiot . go back to buying your music at starbucks or ll bean . turd !

  • bla, Dave Matthews sucks.

  • killer version.

  • Thanks flatwound. Hope all is well.jb

  • The hook of this song (the one that made us all go "WOW! What a GREAT song!" when we heard the studio version) was the duel bass riff. Without it, it is just a good song.

  • THIS GUYS ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT IN IT FOR THE MONEY..... GREAT they enjoy

  • Love the "unproduced " sound , like the dudes came, plugged , and done it , not something easy to come across , in this over-technological times...

in wich the prevailing message is buy buy buy....

information mistaken for knowledge, or even worse, for wisdom....

  • Dave Matthews nails it.

  • Really like this song.

  • Es maravilloso saber que existen seres humanos capaces de crear música como esta. Desde la primera vez que escuché el trabajo como solisat de Daniel Lanois (1990) en la radio, no dejo de admirarlo cada vez más.

  • is this at a wedding?

  • Daniel Lanois, as someone stated, played electric with his fingers -- without a plectrum. This is an ensemble of talented players who have played with him over the years.

Precious to see both Brian and Brady Blade playing together.

    Anyone know the setting?

  • Guys a genius!

  • Duo Blade.

  • Brian Blade on drums!

  • Two Blades, I believe. Must be nice.

  • awesome!

  • W O W

  • F-ing awesome. That band is sick!! How does Mr. Lanois get those heavenly and unearthly sounds of that guitar?

  • @M3CoupeC50 I think cuz he uses his fingers... Mark Knopfler makes some lovely noises too..

  • From about 7 to 9 minutes it's really out of this world.

  • definitely one of the coolest videos i've seen in a while

  • fucking awesome ( sorry for the expression, but that's how i see it) better than any cover

  • Comment removed

  • Sublime.

  • Does anyone know where this happened? I'd kill to see Lanois in an environment like that. He and Brian blade are unreal together.

  • i htink its fenian films in hamilton on locke street

  • is this fenian films

  • I see a Christmas tree....but black and white video is an interesting twist on a hotel party...

  • Thanks for posting. Could you tell us exactly when and where this took place? Merci.

  • Brian Blade is god on the drums.

  • could have done without the directions.

  • Daniel Lanois' songs on his Acadie album capture the spirit of French North America.

  • First time I heard this played properly!!!

  • this song, makes a sh!tty day, much much better!

  • excellent jam in the middle there... i got goosebumps at the 9 minute mark...

  • Yeah, 2 drummers are perfectly sync'd. and a great song at that.

  • the drums are awesome in this version

  • A knockout version of this song. Thanks.

  • Jerry Garcia used to do a beautiful, haunting version of this song.

    Thank you for posting this!

  • goood.

  • He is a king among men...

  • The talent on that stage... wow. I've heard everyone there a zillion times, but it's my first introduction to Shawn Stroope. Nice playing there, man!

  • Stroope is the man. The whole line up is awesome

  • I'd pay to sit and just listen to the Blade brothers play drums together...real tasty.

  • Agree. Does "bgv's" mean background vocals or something else?

  • Well done.

    All the very best: redfox2blueleader

  • Uhm..I saw Daniel Lanois , Brian Blade & Emmy Lou Harris at Zankel hall ( Carnegie ) N.Y in 2006 but I can't remeber the bass players name. Can you help me with this?

  • it's most likely Darrell Johnson...slammin bass player. I'm playing bass in this performance.

  • @flatwound74 ...and it's great!

  • @redfox2blueleader ....... it is buddy miller on guitar

  • @redfox2blueleader - it was Marcus Blake.

  • Man oh man. Thanks.

  • Man oh man is that Brian Blade in thid video?

  • Brian and his brother Brady.

  • i love Daniel Lanois....and The Maker is my fav for years

  • Very good!

  • my favourite singer, singing about my favourite town....

  • dave matthews version is the best

  • Dave Mathews version makes me wanna jump of the nearest high building!

  • It's not that bad, but far from the best. Better than Willie's I guess.

  • well listen to it , and do us all a fav , and jump

  • But there also seems to be a second drummer - is that the regular line up for his shows? I´ve missed the shows, he played in Berlin... only somebody told me, he played with an earplug to stay in sync... This is nice relaxed show! And I deffinitly see a second drummer. That must be real cool...

  • Are there Christmass trees in the decoration on stage? That´s´unique. Nice cut!!

  • The Drummer is Brady, the Drummer from Dave and Friends

  • The drummers are the Blade bros - Brady and Brian...the best in the business...

  • He's making a movie here right?

  • oh this is so very nice, it just makes me sigh. thank you for sharing!

  • Thank you ever so much.

  • so good to see Buddy
